I have bought my model S via a retail store in Belgium. The test drive is what convinced me.
But next to that the store found a good price for my old car and took care of a lot of issues with the lease firm.
In short, without the retail store I would now be driving a hybrid BMW.

First day deposit on Model 3 online. February 2018 Model 3 in Scottsdale to look at(would love to have done test drive but supplies limited at time). Believe in May 2018 could configure, took delivery July 3rd. Love car. Model 3 prompted us to get rid of BMX X3 and get Model X, went to Scottsdale AZ store to look and test drive Model X. Based on that started looking at CPO Model X, just purchased Model X 90D a few weeks back thru Tesla CPO program. I hope they try to keep at least one showroom/store open per state that they have a presence in currently. I know California is big state for sales but looks like there's a crapload of stores there.

I would have never bought my model S if I hadn't test drove it first. The car sells itself that way. In my opinion the sales force I interacted with were not only offputting but detracted from the experience. I was interested in owning a car, not making friends with a bunch of self-centered brats (did they get their attitude from down the chain of authority? ) Fortunately there was one salesperson that seemed to have his head on straight and I felt like he was an honest guy. I would have never purchased an S unless I felt like I was getting a deal.
Somehow he found one about a month old from inventory at a slight discount. After all was over and I was in love with my car (and still am) i felt deeply betrayed by the entire company by having been sold a car that would be nearly obsolete within 2 months when the electronics in the newer cars were all upgraded with generation II and it was announced that level IV or V self-driving would never be supported by my car and there was no expected upgrade path. This was a total bait-and-switch. Given that my car will be basically worthless when Tesla does finally release this capability (if it ever does turn out to truly be as-advertised) I will never be taken again by Tesla and I recommend to everyone that is considering buying any Tesla for the full-self-driving promise to wait until its actually been released and continue to drive their ICE car rather than be taken by misleading marketing around the technology in the cars. I would have not have this opinion if Telsa intended to keep their word that the cars they are presently selling are fully software upgradable to full level V self driving. But until then, Ill go for less expensive options since what I really wanted out of a Tesla was it's ability to get me from point A to point B while conducting business without being distracted by the drive.

I had previously test drove a model s and I did sit in a model 3 at a galery before buying. If i hadnt driven the model S i would have wanted to test drive a model 3 before buying. IMHO if Elon is delusional that once Tesla is thru their early adopter customers that the cars will sell without test drives and potential customers having the ability to go sit in and check out the cars before buying, he is smoking some serious crack and i fear for Tesla's future.

I's been lusting over Tesla's ever since test driving the original roadster. After putting down a deposit on a model 3, I test drove a Model S to see what had changed. I also went to one of the initial store displays of the model 3 where you had two minutes to sit in it and check it out. All the waiting was worth it!

Loved the Tesla the minute they came out. Couldn't afford the Model S or X. Was totally excited for Model 3, but price was still too high. Went and test drove a Model 3 at a store. Loved it but couldn't buy at that time. I had a few picked out I was interested in and when I went to pull the trigger on the down payment, they would be sold already. I was on a Website looking for Model 3's and found Current Automotive in Naperville, Illinois. He(Seneca) had a few slightly used 2018 Model 3 for cheaper than buying over the internet. I got mine fully loaded for under $49,000! Couldn't have gotten a better deal from a better saleman than Seneca! Definitely look them up! If you don't mind a few miles on the car you can get one for significantly cheaper prices! Thank you Seneca at Current Automotive in Naperville Illinois! I don't think getting rid of the stores and salesmen will be a positive for Tesla's sales. Not happy the way Elon is treating his employees. What will happen if their sales crash? I hope not but corporate America can fuck anything up. I love my Model 3 and electric cars. Elon should be worried about competition from China's electric car makers, even with the Model 3 being made in China soon.

I'm that 60ish white guy who transitioned from Prius to Tesla Model S early. Bought another when that one got to be old. I enjoyed the no haggle purchase process, and back in the olden days, buying a Tesla at the Store was more than a little hoity toity. Elon was always upfront about fleecing us well-heeled geezer types so he could eventually mass produce a really good Electric Car cheaply one day. Now that day has come. The Earth is heating up. Stop complaining about the ONE GUY WHO IS ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT by executing the plan he set forth many years ago.

I love my Model 3. I love Tesla. But there is NO WAY I would have ever bought my Model 3 without being able to test drive it first.
People ask me about the car all the time. Many of my coworkers are intrigued by my Tesla and electric cars in general. But none of them are Tesla fanatics. If they have the opportunity to test drive the Model 3, I think a number of them would buy it. But I don’t see any of them buying one without being able to do a test drive. I think that’s true for most people that aren’t Tesla fanatics. I hope Tesla figures this out and finds a way to continue offering test drives.
No, having the option to return the car after a week or 1000 miles is not the same. The average person is not going to secure financing on a car just so they can have a 1 week test drive. This ain’t a sustainable business model.

I took my family to a Tesla store to sit inside a Model X while we were on vacation, but since we live over 100 miles from the nearest store, I was unable to test drive one prior to ordering it (with help from a sales associate at the store we visited) remotely.

My first exposure to a Tesla car was driving a friend's 2014 Model S 75. Subsequently, I had put a deposit on a Model 3 the second day that reservations were being accepted. I was contacted in December by a local advisor stating that he had cars available to drive so I made an appointment and drove a Model 3. It exceeded my expectations and after thinking on it overnight, I ordered the car online and told the advisor I had done so. I picked up the car in a week or so. It's great!

I don't think i would bring business to a company that is so greedy in my eyes there only looking at one thing. You put your people which is your company first not boot em. I'm not interested in there cars anymore they can keep them if that's how they treat there people.

I took a test drive in model X with a store employee. I did not like the drive because I was not familiar with the area and the store employee took me on a challenging drive. Already having a reservation (made online at time of announcement on TV) on a Model 3, I wanted to see if the Model X would better suit my needs than the Model 3, not yet released. When the model 3 was released to the stores for people to see I was able to determine that it would not meet my needs and that a Model X would do so. Still, I thought I did not like Model X because of the previous test drive. The representative at the store offered me the opportunity to take the Model X home overnight and return it the next day. That did the trick! Taking the car home over roads familiar to me I was able to enjoy driving the Model X. Have now had it 6 months and love it. I would not have purchased Model X online, the representative at the Corte Madera store made this sale possible. I love my Model X. Thank you for the good service.

I rode shotgun in a Tesla owner's Model S an EV owners gathering event several years ago in Las Vegas and was thoroughly impressed. However, I'd already been committed to eventual Tesla ownership ever since I'd first read about the original Roadster and plans for the creation of the "under $40000 Tesla." This ridealong was the closest I ever came to a "test drive" before taking delivery of my Model 3 last year.

My model S lease is up this month and I struggled to decide whether to return it, buy it, or get the audi etron. I test drove the s and tha changes to the seats let alone the interior and exterior color options meant tgat the test drive of the new s sealed it for me. I am not getting a new tesla, buying my current but will evaluate the etron when my vehicle arrives
