Bought my X at store, test drove, asked questions. Would never buy a $100K car any other way

I put a refundable deposit down on my Model X. I then went to Tesla Dealer which happened to only be 2 miles from my home. I had many questions because 1. I had never driven an electric car and 2. The Model X was a new model and it helped having one on the showroom. I was able to actually see what I was ordering. I test drove The Model S on several occasions to familiarize myself with the controls and handling. They soon took delivery of a Model X for test drives. That car is so unique and expensive, but worth it. I wouldn't have bought it if I wouldn't have been able to do all of the above actions. The Model X that I ordered to my specifications arrived and I had confidence in my new Model X because I prepared myself. I would say that i developed friendships with two knowledgeable, kind and patient Tesla Salespeople. In my opinion, I think it's a terrible idea to go to online sales only.

We test drove the Model x three different times. My wife bought our car from a sales associate who found one with 1200 miles which they discounted 6700.00. I’m sure we could have bought a Model 3 online but not our 100d.

Stood in line to leave $1000 deposit on Model 3. Chose options over phone and picked my car up in San Diego a year from my deposit date. Love my car and a service guys rotates my tires in my garage!!

I bought my model three after sitting in it in a show room store in Bellevue Washington. It helped me make the decision to buy it. I think the stores in the mall’s are very helpful in getting interest in the cars.

I test drive the vehicle several times, with a and without family. Spoke to in store representatives. Used the online configuration tool. Placed the order in store with my wife to get the whole in store experience.

I went to the store in 2016 and after test driving decided to buy used D75. In 2017 I ordered new one online and it was an easy and simple experience.
I think as long as you have some experience with electric online is fine. If you have no experience, store can be important to educate and show, which will help to decide.

I have ordered 12 Teslas since my first online order in 2012. I have never been inside a Tesla sales store and have never taken a Tesla test drive. Our first Model S delivered off an auto hauler in front of my house in May 2013. There really is no reason to have retail stores. It is so much easier to do everything online.

It is OK to sell online but Tesla needs to beef up product quality (occasionall buggy software), improve support center (long waits), improve customer interactions at service centers (ordered a part in November and never got a call from my service center that the part has arrived and to come in), refund of deposit on me second Tesla took four months and resolved after many calls and emails, reduce hype on self driving features (aka enhanced cruise control) - too dangerous and there are enough stupid drivers out there who use ingenious ways to avoid the system override, curtail Trump tweets (sorry Musk tweets) - too many and for a public company it often gets him in trouble and it is too volatile for all stakeholders!

Ordered my MS 85 online and contacted the service center to make sure it had arrived before I went to pick it up. The service center was very helpful and knowledgeable but I wouldn't say that it was completely necessary

Checked out the Model 3 in a store then bought it on line.

I purchased my Model 3 through Tesla store in Rocklin, CA. The sales and delivery folks were just amazing. I had some questions after placing order and before taking delivery. I called Tesla customer service few time but every time I was on waiting for around an hour without ever getting any help. But when I drove to the Tesla store, someone was always there to help me immediately.

It would be a good idea to ask which models were purchased, so we can evaluate if Model S/X buying behavior is different than Model 3.

Went to Tesla store to look at M3 and fell in love with it. Scheduled a test drive for a week later then ordered a week after that online.

Never even sat in a Tesla before I picked up my Model 3.

My store interactions were limited to: standing in line on Day One to plunk down my $1000 reservation deposit for Model 3, and an impulse visit to the new Las Vegas showroom a few weeks before my scheduled delivery day to ask a few questions of employees re: options forplaguing my own music collection over the Model 3's stereo system. Other than that, my Tesla research and interactions were online only.
