My issue isn't a unified time zone with the Pacific U.S. states, but rather the possibility of being on Standard Time all year. Absolutely not! If you're going to bring in a single time, make it Daylight Savings Time all year, not Standard. I'm not the only British Columbian who perks up significantly with the longer days. Being able to do a hike after work in March is a real bonus---one that school children would benefit from, too. Please don't subject us to year-round Standard Time!

If we are going to do this I would suggest that all of BC should be on the same time. The NE never changes the time and I would suggest we go with them. The summer evenings would have more sunshine for us campers. In other words adopt daylight savings time all year a round. We are going to DST on Sunday and should be left like that year around. The NE would then be in sync. with us.

The question posed is ambiguous. There are two parts to it that are not explained. A unified time for the west coast of North America makes sense. I don't feel comfortable voting when this may become part of an official study being used to make this decision. I like the "spring ahead" part of the time change and would only vote for the unified time if it were to stay as is.

We should keep Daylight Savings Time all year. It gives us later sunsets in the winter which would reduce rush hour traffic accidents. Not to mention doing away with annoying and jarring time shifts.

If we go on year-round DST (summer time), kids will go to school in the dark during the winter months. To help solve that problem, but keep the benefits of those long summer evenings, I propose we split the difference. This coming Sunday, for example, we would shift our clocks 30 minutes ahead, and then never touch them again.

I support a unified time zone using daylight savings time all year round.

    Hi

I voted no, but only because we're not standardizing on using daylight savings time all year long. That would be way better - the winter evenings are dark too early and many of us live in darkness from the time we go to work until we get home. So, do this but se the Summer time, not the Winter standard.

Daylight saving time all year long. If we keep the present time ( winter) time it will get dark at 8:45 pm to 9:00 pm in the summer. Therefore minimizing the daylight in the evening during the summer when it's nice to be out late evening.. By implementing daylight saving time it will be dark at 5:30 pm in the winter instead of 4:30 pm. That alone is a big plus.

I would like to see Daylight Savings time extended all year.
We are already in the same time zone as California, Oregon and Washington.

  • Warren - 5 years ago

I'd like to keep Day light savings all year.

Why can't we have BOTH -- a unified time zone aligned with Wash., Ore. and Cali AND standard time throughout the year right across Canada?

  • Dave MacDonald - 5 years ago

I support a unified time zone provided we stay on daylight saving time only or retain the present system. I do NOT
    suport a full-time standard time.
