As de facto community governments, should HOAs be subject to the Constitution as are all other local governments?

Currently, our Board is trying to restrict directors from participating as neighbors on a social media neighborhood app. As members of the Board, we do not lose our rights as neighbors in a neighborhood. Provided we are not mentioning the Board in our posts or saying anything that would cast aspersions on the Board, I don't feel they have the right to trample on our First Amendment Right to Free Speech with our neighbors.
