Government is hating the fact that it's addictive yet 1/10 users get addicted and if you get behind the wheel intoxicated you could kill someone well what about pills and alcohol that's way more addictive that marijuana and it's MAN MADE weed grows from the ground how are to to say it should be illegal throw away the pills and substitute for the plant you will still make money from it we need it and people move just because you treat it like meth its a plant .. it's not man made and addictive and a murder weapon like pills or alcohol

The question is why have the government lied for so long and how has it went on as long as it has? Alcohol and tobacco are legal. Well that kills people. Marijuana hasnt killed no one. It's illegal. Taxes keeps going up, lethal chemicals are sold everyday. The government dont want us to know the facts. Alabama is one of the oldest, corrupted, and racist states ive lived in and I hate it. The laws are unjust and only the white male can get ahead but not always now age plays a part. Ya gotta be 100 to be a major or Senate or council member. Stupid state keeps taking my money but it still looks like a dump here. Water taste like crap insurance is to high.uncle Sam is a thief amd I can't smoke a joint? Whos the dummy now?

I think it would be very useful.. I take Marinol (THC). It a soft gell pill with THC in it & it helps me so so much.. I've been diagnosed with Gastroparesis and I have major stomach & digestive issue's and that helps so much BUT Smoking the WEED helps me even more... It helps me with alot of my other problems as well, Thanks to the Good Lord in Heaven he's the one who put it here first......

That would be the best thing that ever happened! Right now I am on a very evil drug for chronic pain. I have osteoporosis and osteoarthritis plus I have fractures in my back and my discs in my back are collapsing. They have a strain for chronic pain. I am a nurse. The only thing that marijuana does and this is with chronic use I'd slow your reaction time and lowers sperm count in men. That's it! And this thing that marijuana leads to other drugs is a crock! I'm 70 years old and I say it should be legalized medically and recreationally.

  • Shayla Overton - 5 years ago

Yes! Make it legal medically and recreationally. Peoples lives are ruined all because of pot. When all it does is help, I can say from experience, I have migraines, depression, pain, anxiety, and bipolar disorder, and it helped me before I had my kids. Now that I have children I can’t do it, and meds don’t work. I’ve been prescribed all kinds of meds to help and they worked for about 2 weeks maybe and that was it. It helped my mood swings a lot, and I can’t really never seem to get myself to eat! I need this to become legal so that way I can have something that does honestly help! People are in prison and losing their children for failing for nothing but marijuana. While other states are making billions from the sale of Cannabis. Alabama’s roads and everything are awful! We could use that money to fix our roads, help with our schools, colleges. It would just help the state all the way around!

  • Emmitt Cook - 5 years ago

It’s a plant medicine not a drug the people who drink all day everyday are the ones against it

  • Katherine - 5 years ago

Yes. I'm so tired of taking pain pills that BARELY help (unless I double-up, as I'm prescribed 5mg Norco 3×daily), and I'm so very, very tired of playing the part of a guinea pig. I CANNOT handle smoking pot....I become insanely intelligent, eat the refrigerator, and pass out. Plus...I'm sure I wouldn't be able to function at work. Seriously; pass the pot bill. From a 2yr breast cancer survivor. 20 chemo infusions, mastectomy of left breast, 10 lymhpnodes removed (7 showed cancerous), and 32 rounds of radiation.

  • Tracy Skinner - 5 years ago

Yes they should..I suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis, fibromyalgia, trigeminal neuralgia, ibs, anxiety, fatigue nausea, depression, difficulty sleeping, pain . I have been on cbd oil for 1 month and can feel.the difference already...I take 13 pills in the morning to function 4 in the evening and 4 more at night...The only people we are harming is the law abiding citizens who are sick and need this to be passed! all the drug users everyone is talking about and scared of are using already...Everyday I can now wake up take my oil and face the day no matter what..I can clean house without becoming so sick I have to go to bed, I can fix supper for my family above all this though I feel.like my self again. When I have a set back Im not depressed I know i can and will.over come my situation something not one pill I have taken on the last 8 years has been able to do...I can live again

  • Jalil - 5 years ago

Yes make is legal and move on, why keep something that helps hundreds of people illegal, I'm on probation for a misdemeanor marijuana charge all because I called the cops to get the drug dealers selling cocaine and crack who was breaking in my house and they charge me with possession of marijuana over a little stem not even a bud on it, so I paying hundreds of dollars a month barely even able to pay off other bills BC the state is taking all my money for this natural plant, the laws here in Alabama ruins lives and jobs please change this

  • Casey Cleghorn - 5 years ago

Why is it even question ed anymore of course it should be legal only reason naysayers say no is bc they probably have a hand in the untaxed sales associated with illegal marijuana

U.S. Government Patent 6630507 just turned eighteen years old February 2 2019. NIH awarded this patent to USDHHS as sole patent owner at that time. Lmao. Even Federal Income Taxpayers in Alabama and Kansas funded and currently own this nontoxic cannabis healthful benefits patent before February 2 2001.

  • Kathy - 5 years ago

Shhh! Nontoxic recreational STILL does not know it is nontoxic OTC. Lmao. The despised and loathed nontoxic THC laden cannabis saves more lives! Essential nontoxic exclusive nutrients and exclusive cannabis genetic repairants have been removed from the human food chain for 82 years by oppressive bad government. 82 YEARS! U.S. Government Patent just turned eighteen years old February 2 2019. "Oxidative Diseases" STILL includes cancer eighteen years later. "Ischaemic Diseases" STILL includes heart disease eighteen years later. "Trauma" STILL includes PTSD and concussion eighteen years later: "Thank you for your service SUCKER." and " RollTide! Fight CTE!".

I would like to see it legal for both recreational use and medical use, I've personally seen it help so many people with so many things. But this is a step in the right direction so if baby steps is what it takes, so be it.

  • Patrick - 5 years ago

I'm all for legalization.. Both medically and recreationally. I can tell you that I'd rather be around someone that smokes as opposed to someone who drinks. But I really think this poll is irrelevant considering that if The Marijuana Justice Act of 2019 passes.. And it's got a lot of support from both democrats AND Republicans. Statistics show that 60 percent of our entire US voters favor legalization. And it's already hit the Congress floor. All you Naysayers.. Your just gonna have to accept it. That's my piece.

  • Lance Edwards - 5 years ago

Yes! First you can make all kinds of things with hemp. 2nd the medical benefits from marijuana are outstanding with zero deaths per year so what you get high from using it yes but compared to alcohol or ANY PILL there is no competition when it comes to safety. And lastly you should decriminalize it the jails and prisons are already overcrowded realease people with non violent offenses relating to marijuana.

  • Amanda - 5 years ago

As someone who has suffered from depression due to childhood traumatic events and constant sciatic pain with no relief (allergic to most pain relievers) I believe this would fully help many, many Alabamians suffering from various illnesses, pain, depression, and many others. It has been proven many times over as on of the best medicines and can be used in various ways to help ease or even dissipate chronic illnesses!

  • Roger A Seymore - 5 years ago

Make it legal and tax it other state's are getting million's in tax from the sale of it and your never going to stop people from using it.Wake up Alabama the people want it and some need it for medical problem's it help's with chronic pain for sure.Make it so you have to be of a legal age it's better than getting drunk.Alcohol wasn't ever stopped because of prohibition and the federal government could not stop it.Cannabis will never be stopped take a look around us and wake up get the tax money's and use it to help with the bridge across Mobile Bay and forget about the tool booth's.

  • Mike - 5 years ago

Make recreational legal too. You can do away with your gas tax and still make more on the tax you'd get from marijuana.

  • Roger Raines - 5 years ago

Republicans have blocked this and any other improvement for Alabama, It’s just like lottery all the states around Alabama get the money state Senators pocket Indian gambling money Our education system suffers due to Jabo Waggoner and Republicans being crooks Didn’t mind stealing our money on gas tax

  • Tommy - 5 years ago

Put it up for vote, don't let a few people decide for millions. I hope it passes, marijuana is much better than what opoids. I have diabettic beuropathy in my hands and feet, and arthoritis in my neck that causes bad headaches.

  • Jordan king - 5 years ago

    YESSSS MAKE IT LEGAL❗️

  • Cam Webb - 5 years ago

    Full Recreational

  • Sissy McGinnis - 5 years ago

No, keep it illegal. At least now, the law has some control over it, if caught they can be punished, made legal everyone will get away with it with no consequences legally or not. There will be people growing their own, the government knows this. They cant control it.

  • Dunker - 5 years ago

    No! Keep it fun!

(just kidding; prohibition doesn't work. Tax it already and let's focus on actual issues in this country)

  • Mike - 5 years ago

YES, make it legal. Stop ruining people's entire lives over their use of a harmless plant.

  • Ellis - 5 years ago

Of course make it legal. When the Rockefellers and Duponts got hemp and Marijuana outlawed because it interfered with their chemicals business they took America for a ride. You cannot patent hemp, or Marijuana for that matter. If we had hemp made plastics and paper which biodegrade, in less than a year, our landfills wouldn't be an issue. Plastics dumped into the watersheds would breakdown alsomt immediatemt. Before the outright hemp ban in America most paper was made with hemp. Now we cut down trees to make it. You want to make a dent in global warming plant more trees, and grow more hemp.

Alabama should start burning petroleum based plastics to generate electricity, like is done in Norway, and rid itself of the pollutant. Medical marijuana is one thing hemp production and manufacturing of more than 10000 products is something completely different. Make Alabama the hemp capital of the USA. We have the weather, the water and a lack of jobs. It all all starts with a decision. Someone needs to make a decision.

From personal experience I can tell you that pot is safer and more effective than opioids. However, it’s much more expensive than opioids and the quality is inconsistent. Hopefully though health insurance will make it less costly.

  • Cancer Victim - 5 years ago

I have stage 4 cancer, and I can tell you it works better than any of the opioids at addressing my constant pain with perhaps morphine being the exception, and it is non-addictive compared to opioids as well.

  • Puff puff pass - 5 years ago

It should be just as legal as alcohol ????

  • Brett - 5 years ago

It should be legalized for recreational use also.

  • Rob Malone - 5 years ago

Yes yes yes! Help those with chronic pain or uncontrollable seizures with a natural remedy. Not that I really partake, but go ahead and make it recreational as well, unclog our over worked court and prison systems that Kay says we need more money to expand and start claiming tax dollars for our schools and roads. It's a guaranteed multi million if not billion dollar revenue stream. The state wastes millions trying to stop marijuana and doesn't even scratch the surface. I dare say it's easier to get high quality weed than getting the correct order at McDonald's late night drive through.

  • nate - 5 years ago

I think cannabis legalization laws should benifit the cizizens that voted for it, not outside investors, of course I belive in the free market but I really think that the laws should greatly benifit the people that suffered under prohibition in not people from another state that have been thriving under legalization since 1997.
if that means that it takes awhile to get dispensarys going then so be it. If that means finding local people who are allready proficient at growing marrijuanna then great

Medical Cannabis would be great help to all of us that are suffering chronic pain everyday and can not take any of the prescribed pain medications. I'm stage 5 Polycystic kidney disease and it would be a big benefit for me.
