I like what I saw from Jordan Mailata last preseason but I think it's way too premature to call him Jason Peters successor. He's still a 7th round pick who never played football at all until last year, let alone a down in a real NFL game. Vaitai is mediocre and will be a FA after next season so moving up 3 spots to get the best LT prospect in the draft was fantastic move by the Eagles. If Mailata develops into a NFL starter, all the better, but that's nowhere near a sure thing. Eagles value O-linemen, especially a LT that can keep their QB in 1 piece. The failure rate for developmental players in the NFL is much, much higher than the success rate so it's always best to plan accordingly.
