Another subscription? No thank you - I would buy a different car first.

Ricky I don’t know about the market where you are but in reality dealers in the UK do charge for a real spare wheel instead of a tyre ruining inflation kit!
And there’s no way on earth I’d pay a dealer subscription for this as I already pay Apple for Apple Music if there is a cost why can’t it be bundled into that for a £1 a month extra then it’s a level playing field for everyone.

What possesses a car company who makes hundreds of millions profit to charge their hard working costumers money for an app you get for free from other car manufacturers. I have no problem buying from another equally good or better competitor. Actions speak louder than words, what a disgrace.

I just spent 85k for an M3. I made it clear to the dealer I would not buy the car if they imposed a subscription. They figured it out. The whole thing of charging extra for CarPlay functionality is all about screwing the customer. There is no additional cost to the manufacturer. It’s a line or two of code. Resist!

Generally, you’re in the market for a new BMW, you’re not going to care about $300. Their extensive absurd list of a la carte options would swallow a pissant $300. It really doesn’t make sense, unless Apple charges them for updates. Otherwise, I can see it as part of a media package, or a $100 option. Personally I’m not a fan of it - it won’t read entire texts/emails, the Maps integration is wonky, and (here’s a stupid one) you can’t dictate emojis ????. But it is a good start.

That just feels really sleazy. I don't care how good the car is, I'm not interested in buying from someone who does business like that.

Soon this auto makers will be charging us if we want tires on when we buy a car. Americans wake up to this nonsense, we pay enough for anything we buy in this country. Completely OUT OF CONTROL and companies they get away with murder!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some carmakers throw CarPlay in at no charge, others nickel and dime you to death. Somehow its the lower end cars that can include it for free and the high end that charge for it. I bought BMW for years but this (and the way they charge so much for safety driving features) that are included for no charge on cheaper cars, has convinced me to never buy another BMW unless they change their pricing strategy.
