How about the user pay system. Find a way to have them pay for the service, and use the surplus (after deducting the equivalent of fuel taxes) to pay for those additional services.

Taxpayers are funding this lunacy. Not only does government use taxpayers' money to 'bribe' EV buyers, we apparently must also fund the construction of charging stations. In addition, EV owners are avoiding the onerous taxes on gasoline which supposedly go to maintaining infrastructure and in many cases are getting cheap or free electricity. Consumers should decide what vehicles to buy, not gevernment ideology
