If you need likes to boost your ego, that's sad. I say do away with it. It will bring much more authentic content.

What is the point of 'liking' posts if the like count is not visible. For most users it isn't about what other people think about the likes, it's about what the user thinks about the amount of likes and although it shouldn't be like that, it is. There should be an option to TURN LIKES ON AND OFF!! Just like the activity status.

Only commenting to call out ‘dudu’. Don’t be salty because some people make more money than you through social media. Jealousy is an ugly emotion. If you’re making enough money to pay your bills and treat yourself...then I’m pretty sure it’s a real job. Don’t be grumpy because you work for the man and have to work a 9-5 job your whole life. Welcome to the twenty first century. Maybe get on your phone and try making easy money too. Bigots like you make me sick being so ignorant and close minded to things. Buddy, you’re the joke. As for the topic of the post, I agree with ‘Joe Staple’ I think it should be a setting that can be turned on or off. Some people use Instagram as a marketing platform, and I feel removing the visible number of likes steers away from that. So I’m all for seeing number of likes.

90% of instagram is regular Joe’s who like the hidden likes because they rather not have lower likes than other friends. But influencers rely on these visible likes for business collaborations and hidden likes damages their authentic brand that took years to build. There should be an option to turn off or on the likes for the user based on which category they fall under. This is an OBVIOUS SOLUTION that works for everyone and anything else just to because it’s a majority vote is beyond stupid because not everyone is using Instagram for the same thing. What if the casual users had new changes at their day job implicated just because a majority of people liked something different but weren’t impacted financially from it? Yeah, then you care, but sure don’t care about it roles reversed.
