Ma is the one of these I'm most likely to see. Late Night next. I sixth option would have made this more difficult for me: Always Be My Maybe (limited release May 31).

Of these movies, Godzilla KOTM has the most "Summer Movie Blockbuster" feel. It's got an AMAZING cast, and has the potential to just be a lot of fun. It's got my vote.

I've never voted out of cruelty before, until now.
Josh's sheer disgust of the very idea of an Elton John biopic was just too entertaining for me not to force him to watch.
If he loves it, it'll be great radio.
If he hates it, it'll be better radio.

I had no interest in Rocketman either, because biopics are so lame, but the early reviews are saying it's more of a musical that avoids the traps of biopic cliches, so now I'm really intrigued...

The only right answer to this question is "Ma" if only because it signifies Octavia Spencer's first solo lead role in a movie ever. It also looks hilarious on premise alone.

I would totally pick Rocketman even if I wasn't excited for it just from Josh's utter frustration and lack of interest. I'm a cruel man. But beyond that I actually am shocked I'm excited for this film despite despising the awful and problematic Bohemian Rhapsody, which was mostly directed by the same director as Rocketman. However there's enough factors that have me interested. For one the lead Taron Egerton can actually sing and looks the part. Also many have noted this is more of a musical and less of a biopic. And most important for me this film is R-rated with explicit queer love scenes, something desperately missing and so poorly handled in Bohemian Rhapsody.
So I think this one is unique enough for you all to discuss it. Or at the very least I get some top tier Larson grumbles as he reads the poll results.

I am dying to see Ma, and I would LOVE to hear your takes on it. I feel like horror is perhaps one of the least discussed genres on Filmspotting, and this looks like a fun one. You could do Top 5 Blumhouse Productions (maybe that's too specific but there are a LOT of them and some extremely good ones); Top 5 Teens in Peril Movies; Top 5 Creepy Parental Surrogates; Top 5 PSAs against drinking; Top 5 Forbidden Rooms (since the teens aren't supposed to go upstairs in Ma's house); the list goes on.

Umm....Ma obviously. Octavia Spencer teams up again with the director of The Help (Tate Taylor)...and it is a horror movie! Not to mention that it is under the Blumhouse banner which is a good sign as well.
When in doubt, always pick the horror movie with the best premise and actors. Octavia Spencer, Allison Janney, Luke Evans, Missi Pyle, and a bunch of young kids who are bound to be good at giving terrified looks at the hands of Ma...I am 100% in. The rest can wait for rental.
While I’m intrigued by Rocketman, it’s still another unnecessary musical biopic right on the heels of the vastly underwhelming Bohemian Rhapsody.
Late Night on the other hand, has some serious female talent and seems to tackle a comedic story with a refreshing amount of gravitas (if the trailers are to be believed). Emma Thompson rarely disappoints, and Mindy Kaling is one of comedy’s unfairly underrated voices.

Or better yet review Nonfiction and dedicate the episode to Assayas, pair it with a Rohmer film, and discuss the best antiblockbusters, films of understatement, films that are poetic and moving despite their lack of both explosions and/or tragedies! (personal pipe dream i know

This was actually a tough one. I do want to hear you guys talk about Godzilla, since I was really pleasantly surprised with the first one. But Late Night's been on my radar for a while, and I'm betting on Mindy to be the next Tina Fey. In the end, I Figured whether its good or bad, I'll still probably see Godzilla, but if your review of Late Night doesn't make it even more appealing to me, I can skip it with a clear conscious. No pressure here guys!
