Do Men in Your Ward Wear Bow Ties?

I've read Brother Brunson's comments about bow tie several times, but only recently since I've converted can I say I really can make a comment. I will admit I'm not the ONLY ward member who wears bow ties to meeting but I can probably say I'm the only member who will wear a tuxedo to Sunday meeting. And before you jump up and go wait a minute, I'll say it's not my black tuxedo (although if I get asked to pray over sacrament it will be the one) but it's my other ones, along with all of my bow ties. After being away from church (of one denomination or another) for many years, I am just happy be worshipping again with like minded folk who don't give a darn about what its members wear. I like dressing up, my Sunday best are my tuxedos and I think that a habit from younger days being brought back to life is a good thing. I love hearing "looking good", "sharp dresser" etc. and I take these all as compliments. Now if I happen to see one of the youth decide to follow me in dress, I might be taken by surprise. That is because I will have had no idea that he'd been watching me, but hopefully his parents might have something to say about it. I guess the biggest reason I dress up and wear bow ties and tuxes is because I JUST CANNOT STAND backward ball caps, message t-shirts and a host of other questionable garments that are worn by all types. Fortunately, I think we have a better standard than that of anything goes and dressing in our Sunday best proves it week to week. My main point here is to let readers know that dressing indoor best doesn't mean you have to put a Brother down, but that you should lift him up and say he's doing good works no matter how he dresses. In fact, that's the only way we should come to meeting on Sunday: Open hearts that are pure and ready to hear the Word with a good attitude as that is all our Heavenly Father really requires. Amen!

I was looking for an answer somewhere halfway in between the one weird guy and large handful. I'd say a small handful.

My husband IS the one bow tie wearer. (Plus my toddler, of course.) Our last ward had a bishopric member who wore one, so when they moved, a bunch of people wore one in solidarity on their last week.

I've seen bowties becoming more popular over time. I lived in the far Western suburbs of Chicago until 2 years ago and instantly saw them on the young men and the more fashion conscious guys in their 40s. (Father's of the young men?) One week the bishopric all wore bowties. Since moving to the Salt lake area I've seen fewer bowties, but they're still there.
