I myself have been held at EMDC on several occasions over a decade ago.
It was over crowded then. In my cell we had two beds with four inmates, two were sleeping on the floor. I remember feeling bad for my one cell mate whos head was literally less than 1 foot from the toilet.
The conditions were inhumane then, I can only imagine how bad they are now.
EMDC is no longer capable of holding the number of inmates it has, that's been the case for many years.
We widen our roads when there's congested traffic and don't think twice about it, but our government has had many years and many deaths to expand or replace a system that has been broken for way too long.

Melissa, you do realize that tearing down and rebuilding the facility will not fix mental illness or rehabilitate criminals. You can't blame other people for the actions of inmates.

There's nothing wrong with the building. Perhaps staff is the problem. Get airport style metal detectors, drug sniffing dogs, and employ honest, responsible people who can do a simple job and not be "on the take".

Who ever thinks that the jail should be anything but torn down ur retarded my friend killed himself on while beein on watch 24hrs for wanting to hurt or kill himself but yet he is dead and that means staff are not doing there jobs
