I’m ok with it I don’t think it should have been issued immediately after Heath retired anyways out of respect to him and what he did for the Steelers now 26 was worn before bell by Townsend for many years after Woodson who is my all time favorite steeler but he didn’t play his entire career in Pittsburgh.

Don't get me wrong Miller was a very stable tightend but nobody said anything when leveon Bell wore rod woodsons number 26. I personally think it's petty and Ben needs to focus on bringing the team together.

This is encouraging. If this is the biggest issue the Steelers are dealing with next season could be fun again!

I have zero problem with this. Ben IS the leader of that team and he's absolutely right to ask this kid to try another number. Miller is the best TE the Steelers have ever had. He should be honored.

Ben should be concentrating on the upcoming season and improving his leadership skills without the boss mentality. That's the coaches decision.

Enough of the pettiness, why not use that number 83 to motivate Gentry to raise his level of play to justify the chance to become the next Heath Miller. Just think if Ben protected all Steeler greats numbers , you wouldn't have enough numbers to field a team !

Heath is the greatest TE in steelers history and zack should of already knew not to try and take Heath's number. so YES Ben did the right thing. And to all the jerks who talk shit about him ask them selves this were would the steelers be without ben the last 16 years and how many wins the team have. LONG LIVE BIG BEN REAL STEELER FANS WE LOVE YOU!

Ben is associating being a leader with being the boss. While he has the right to his opinion it would be better if he did so, in this case, through “management”. IMO it’s not his place to be involved directly in these types of details. He should focus on team play and improving his communication skills

I'm fine with it.

Focus on the season ahead of you not numbers

Ben needs to concentrate on improving his own play and doing it minding his own business with his mouth shut.

That's actually a coaching decision.
