Should schools outlaw dodgeball?

Dodgeball is and always has been, poor pedagogical practice. To be honest, it is lazy teaching. The new BC curriculum is jam packed full of content and dodgeball as a "game" does not meet the learning outcomes of the required content. There are a plethora of high interest games that not only teach students fair play, respect, collaboration, correct locomotor, non-locomotor, and manipulative skills but are also FUN! Just because something's been done for awhile does mean it needs to be continued. We should always been striving to improve our education system and provide positive learning experiences for all children.

I loved this game as a kid. Our 3 daughters loved it when they were kids. It’s our grandchildren’s favorite game. Is spoiling kids’ fun really what we should be focused on? Let kids be kids!

I was one of the weaker kids. I was never good at sports, but I always loved dodge ball !!! Who the heck comes up with these studies?

Fascinating. Guess that everyone in that adult dodgeball league created about 8 years ago are all gluttons for punishment

Everyone is forgetting the other part of this game, your TEAM can also try to get the ball to youl "in jail" so you can then hit someone on the opposing team to free yourself. There were lots a strategies and plays that being smaller and more agile were a benifit as well.
I think the "thanks for showing up" ribbon has done far more damage to future adults than could ever be done by a ball at recess.

What is this world coming to? Dodgeball is just a innocent kids game! In my school, it's the most popular, and everyone enjoys it! Stop wasting our tax dollars, and research something meaningful!

What? This is a game that kids love and request. It is a game that all can play. It is a game that does not require a great particular skill. All can play it and all can enjoy it. Don't change what works! Leave dodge ball be!

You seem like you were one of those kids who got chosen last for teams. Maybe oone of those dosgeballs hit you too hard in the head and thats why we have this ridiculous poll; cause dodgeball is the worst thing happening nowadays. You are crazy and you should keep your crazy ideas in the bedroom cause thats where dirty things like that belong

Next up kickball...then maybe we can ban tag too? Not everything needs to be dissected. Spend more time on researching cancer and less on elementary school kiddie games.

I was one of the “weaker” kids growing up. Dodgeball helped me figure out that strength is not everything!! Although it did help me figure out how to get stronger, it also showed me how to adapt to what I had. I was soon getting the strongest players out first.

What? Please stop this non-sense. The kids enjoy the game so much that it's ranked the most popular game in my kid's school. The researchers will find something wrong about everything under the microscope anyways. It's what the kids enjoy that matters.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Give your head a shake, it’s a game, kids love it....
Sounds like someone is a little butt hurt over their last match....

Have the researchers asked the kids what they think? My son plays this throughout all his school years. He says kids love it and have so much fun. He has never seen anyone crying, scared or feeling “oppressed”.
