Do you think that the Manitoba government should allow for more private sales of wine and liquor?

Manitoba already has well balanced approach to sales of liquor, with public liquor marts and privately owned: specialty wine stores, hotel beer vendors and liquor vendors, that latter of which are all private business owners. This allows a well balanced approach and access to alcohol throughout the Province both in urban and rural settings. Access and selection is also very diverse in comparison to other Provinces. Half of the sales in this Province come from privately run retail stores, check out their annual report. The liquor marts provide excellent service, diverse selection in an environment that enhances their shopping experience with knowledgeable staff with a strong commitment to social responsibility. Pricing in the Province is uniform throughout and under a private only retail model, variability in pricing as retailers look to take advantage of customer due to accessibility of product and potential social responsibility concerns could and would transpire. Alcohol is still a controlled substance and we should never forget that fact when we talk about retail and distribution..
