On a scale of 0-10, how likely is it that an Apple Watch could replace your iPhone?

as of September 2020, an apple watch independent of an iphone is a reality, as long as it is part of family sharing. won't be long before apple makes it 100% independent. so yes, i purchased an apple watch for my child without a phone for her to pair it with.

I think its definitely the future. I already hate having to babysit a phone all damn daylong. And they're so expensive.

It will replace. If Siri can read/write email and certain apps can be used by Siri then I dont see why I need to keep bulky phone with me

Asking addicts if they can give up their addiction with another addiction is kind of a tough sell.

Cell phone is the key , so I would make that watch pops up like a cell phone

Id switch in a second once the watch can read news to me out loud and my txt messages. I can’t stand having to lug around the iPhone. They are so big and heavy now. The iPhone 8 was the last phone reasonably sized. So my huge XR got me switching to my watch for almost everything. I dictate text messages, use HomeKit, take calls. Just can’t effectively use news or even email yet. And still no camera for quick shots. But I definitely use it more than my phone when I can

I’ve tried this. The service is terrible. I get dropped calls or not able to call often. Needs a way better antenna. I have a series 4.

it’s hard to say I like my Apple Watch series 3 but when I get a phone call I have to put my wrist up to my ear so I can hear what the person is saying. I don’t think the watch will replace my iPhone it’s just handy when I have my iPhone inside my purse I can answer a call on my watch without digging for my iPhone. So NO I’m not giving up my iPhone!!!

Rollable mobile displays will allow your watch to be your preferred communication device and replace iPad, laptops and desktop screens with a tubular device that fits in your backpack, briefcase or purse.

No, the Apple Watch could not ever replace my iPhone. When I received my AW3 I turned on LTE for the free three months. Yes, I tried not taking my iPhone, but that did not work as I use my iPhone almost every day for photos and scanning documents. After a few days I again brought my iPhone with me, then when the free three month trial ended I turned off LTE. Though I wear my AW3 24/7 it would be impossible for me for it replacing the iPhone. Most often when my AW# would ring on a incoming call I would grab the iPhone including whenf it is in another room.

iPhone screen size keeps expanding, so that we can interact better with legacy/clunky UX design. If I was a product manager at Apple, I would be pushing my team to crack the code of the optic nerve, so that we could literally overlay an interface over our existing vision...which is really just a nice set of stereo cameras connected to our brain.

Back to present day technology... with the right display protocols setup, the Apple Watch could be the computer that allows us to walk up to any screen and interact. It's processing power is plenty sufficient for 95% of our tasks. I predict in 5 years that carrying around 3"x6" bricks in our pocket will be laughable. Just saying...

If I could stream google play music with the watch, I'd already be using it and leaving the phone at home.

In a distant future (20 years??) Apple Watch with a widen and flexible screen should change the market, today not at all.

Bruh, if the Apple Watch gets a camera put on it I’ll kill myself

absolutely not. but thats because the apple watch is a totally different device, and meant to be a great companion to the iPhone, not replace it.

Looking forward to this and using it with an iPad. However Watch would need a really smart camera in it since I don’t want to miss out on taking a quick photo or video.

Love this idea for kids. Have all the connectivity of a phone and findMy without all of the dangers of social media / web.

Would do so already if I could personal hotspot to my iPad. Would then just have iPad and watch.
