That's the dumbest idea I've heard recently. You're deliberately trying to embarrass your customers in the interest of generating virtue signalling brownie points? Normally businesses with good management try to generate profits.
This is terrific way to encourage your customers to shop at a different store which understands basic customer service. So if that's the goal of these stores, then well done..?
Here's a far better way to reduce waste plastic: start providing curbside pickup of plastic bags in all regions. This will be a benefit in BC at least. For the rest of the country where they're using money and fossil fuels to pickup, then dumping plastic and other recycling in the landfills, it's not really a benefit.

But... they are still buying plastic bags... so... yeah.
Why not just offer paper bags? Or make it a bring your own bag store.
We need to stop single us plastics now, but this is not helping.
