Rich - the gas fill is on the driver's side on GM trucks.

The reason that it has not moved is Money. Think of the cost to reconfigure the routing of the wire. Not to mention the extra wire and that cost. The placement maybe cause of light bars.

I always figured that in driving with buildings on each side, that the placement gives optimal exposure to signal. (Except where they drive on the left side of the street)

I'd like to see the antenna out of the way of my canoes when I try to slide them up onto my rack. Its alway right in the way of the bow on the drivers side canoe. I think having it the center would avoid the issue when carrying two canoes.

Those of us with full size campers would definitely vote against a rear center fin placement like we have on GM sedans. The camper's over cab section shades the fin Sat radio reception while driving in northernly directions badly already. I would prefer the fin be on the left front fender out in the open. It might be in our way on the right front fender when we add DEF under the hood. Mechanics might not want it on either fender. So there is likely no perfect place. The fin has probably been on cars for a couple of decades, so it has become common place.. I would suggest that it be incorporated in the side mirrors, but I read one time that the roof serves as a ground plane..not sure that is still the case. The one on the C8 looks tiny..

Must be an almost perfect vehicle if you are complaining about antenna location!

The placement of the antenna does not bother me but I have had two GPS antennas fail - one on a 2016 Tahoe and the other on a 2018 Escalade- water gets in and doesn’t evaporate and the antennas corrode - far from cheap to replace!

Many trucks have a business two way radio. The antennas are often in the back center. The fin antenna made need to be away from those. Just a thought.

Put it center rear of cab... Pretty much out of site...
ALSO, WHY ARE YOUR GAS FILLS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IN A LOT OF YOUR VEHICLES. ONLY JAPANESE CARS ARE THERE, MUST PULL IN BACKWARDS AT THE PUMP.... Pain in the butt
