No ELD small carriers (less then 10 trucks)
No 30 minute break
a 3 part HOS starting with beginner (current regs)

Flexibility like we had before 14hr rule. No 30-minute break, we take breaks daily.

I agree with one of the above comments. Get rid of the 14 hour bs all together. I know my limits and I know when I need to rest the computer on my dash does not.

NO DOUBT THERE NEED TO BE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF REGULATIONS. THERE ARE SOME SHIPPERS AND RECEIVERS WHERE A PERSON WILL USE UP 30 TO 90 MINUTES CHECKING IN AT A GUARD HOUSE THEN BE SENT TO A SHIP/RECEIVE OFFICE THEN SENT TO A DOCK ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE BUILDING . THEN THE LOAD / UNLOAD PROCESS BEGINS. THE MAJORITY OF PLACES WE GO DO NOT OPERATE WITH THE SAME REGS. IN MIND THAT WE ARE REQUIRED TO FOLLOW. WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO STOP / EXTEND OUR CLOCK IN THESE SITUATIONS AFTER A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. THERE NEEDS TO BE A SET NUMBER OF HOURS IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD WE CAN BE ON DUTY AND/OR DRIVE . WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO DECIDE HOW THOSE HOURS ARE SPLIT UP AND USED. AS IT IS NOW, WE ARE ALWAYS RACING THE CLOCK. THERE ARE SO MANY VARIABLES THROUGH OUT THE DAY THAT AFFECT OUR TIME IN SO MANY WAYS. WE NEED FLEXIBILITY.

Galen - 6 years ago
Forget all of the 30 min rule, 11 hr rule, 14 hr rule, 70 hr rule and go with simplistic. A driver can drive up to a total of 14 hrs in a 24 hour period 7 days a week.

Get someone to act on our Over Regulation Laws Now! Get people qualified with knowledge of the Industry. Instead of being advised by the big Corps and Insurance. Using the Laws for Political Business games. Get the Guilty Ones for What They Do and quit punishing the rest of us for what a few has done. Open the doors where the responseable ones can go back to making a living. Give us breathing room again. You have no Driver Shortage. You have Control Freaksmaking and enforcing laws they don’t know the first thing about that are running the drivers off as fast as they can be trained. And I think this is what the big companies want. 50 years at it. I’m fixing to get out of it to. ELogs CSA2010 CDLs alll have been a lie and useless to the industry. Like it wade the bad enough to begin with. LET US DO OUR JOBS

12 hrs between shifts for Local Drivers. With commute to and from work, Traffic etc, and only 10 hrs off, we're fatigued All The Time !
Swamp Thang - 6 years ago
I agree with the ability to pause the 14 hour clock. This allows drivers to pull over and rest during rush hour traffic etc. relieving some congestion instead of being forced by a time limit to keep driving and add to congestion.

16 hours work drive, or stand on my head..8 hours in bunk no splits 7 hour driving must take 15..fuel or poop whatever..

Scrap the log book and the rules all together, and let everyone be responsible for their own actions. Oh, how simple things would be if each driver had the liberty to choose for themselves when and where they wanted to stop. Oh, wait.... this is America, and we don't have liberty or freedom in this country. Wake up folks !!!

What I’d like to see is 11 on 8 conservatively off and on split berth 5 and 1/2 on 5 off and get rid of the 1/2 break it not making a difference and that was for the union boy i’m Not Union I’m independent and make it manitory detentions start 1 hr in no ifs and or but don’t care if big company’s lose a costumer

Other than removal of the mandatory 30 min break I would love for the removal of the maximum hours a week.I feel they limit the amount of money that we as drivers can make. I also know that I feel more tired after a 34 hour restart than I did before.

Let the driver decide.. I know when I need to stop. I know how long I'm able to drive. I dont always need 10 hours to sleep. Telling me when I can and cant drive makes some days harder than they need to be.. Stop penalizing the driver. Crack down on shipper and receivers. That's the real issue..

Leave 14hr rule in place, but increase from 11hr driving to 13hrs inside the 14hrs.
It’s your 14hr day to work or drive, depending upon what is ahead of you.
Long run, 13hrs of driving with a break in the middle. A lot of pick ups, less driving.
Don’t need to put in a short day because of a long driving day with no pick ups or deliveries.

Life was safer and simpler before the know nothing FMCSA determined they needed to put us on a stop watch system. Never was I so tired and frustrated before these changes. The ELD was the finishing blow, and I said screw it!
