Giving a 12% raise to one group of people and expecting everyone else to say it is perfectly OK. I started at $2.98 in my first job, and think that was a little over the minimum wage at the time. Got more money over many years, but it was because I increased skills, and got more knowledge to deserve more money. Changed jobs, but held my last one with 36+ years at retirement.
Not sure how the economist can say no change from increase.
Will have to see if all other employees don't go asking for higher wages at similar rate increases??
See employers have to make the added expense with no increase in skills or output from employees.
Think it would be better to come up with ways these employees could get more skills to better there abilities to support the employers and economy rather than just a raise for nothing.

I think front line workers deserve a raise because the rise in cost of living is not proportionate to the increase in wages therefore families are sometimes just one or two paychecks away from poverty.
