How much interest should we take in the pre-season results?

Hopefully it doesn’t mean much as we’re always rubbish in pre-season. Last season it carried on into the first few Premier League games. Hope they sort out those defensive frailties in the next two weeks!

In the run up to season 1985/86 when we came third we played 10 pre season games we lost all ten!

This is wrong! Pre season games ARE important. It's a game of football. 1 goal at the Asia Cup says that we still cant score goals. You're supposed to win a game of football not be complacent with a 0-1 defeat and just say it's preseason. Preseason comes directly before the REAL season and if you're losing in pre-season what do you think, you're going to suddenly start winning at the beginning of the real season? Every match should be taken seriously with the objection being to win. Our pre-season form has been awful and that gives me no confidence whatsoever going into the first few games of the proper season where we face stiff competition. Please dont dismiss pre-season as being nothing. It's important that we demonstrate that we're ready to go and this year we just havent shown that at all
