Is spending $25M on Halifax bike lanes a good idea?

“Bikeway a waste.” I completely agree with the sentiments of Mr. Jerry Lawrence". Don't get me wrong, cyclist's count and deserve their issues looked at also. Everyone deserves "a kick at the can" and bike lanes are a relatively new concept in comparison to the accessibility of the Halifax Regional Municipality. In all honesty, it is shameful what individuals in wheelchairs have to go through to get in most establishment in HRM that deem themselves "accessible". So you can only imagine what the other side of the coin looks like?
I don't know how our Premiere / Mayor or either of these cabinets can show their faces and honestly think that accessibility should not be number one consideration when using tax payers money. I am sure that everyone in HRM knows an individual that is disabled, but does everyone know an avid cyclist? Consider dividing the money, perhaps 60% accessibility and 40% bike lanes?

    Thank you.

25 million dollars for the safety of cyclist from three levels of government then each cyclist 16 years of age and older should have to be licensed to be on the road. I am a walker and I have had it with cyclist. Over about a three year period I have been struck approximately twelve times by cyclist while in crosswalks and on sidewalks.
These cyclist never stop to see If I am ok, accept for one individual who become very aggressive because I was in his way while walking down the sidewalk.
I believe that once the 25 MILLION DOLLAR BIKE LANE SYSTEM is in place then any cyclist found driving on the sidewalk or across crosswalks should be fined. Sidewalks and crosswalks are for pedestrians

you should be ashamed as a province to allow such stupidity to happen. with only a few really good months to
actually use the bike lanes...when you are covered in snow and crappy weather the rest of it.... yet people are litterly
dying before ever seeing a proper doctor...or mothers having babies with no access to obgyns ..doctors are quitting for various reasons
usually overworked for less pay than the rest of the country. I'm scared to get sick in this province! 25 million could be put to better use
towards the already disastrous health care system....provincial/federal should be taking care of this as its older generations are in dire need of
    access NOW.
