Lib Dems are there as a Tory back up contingency. They don't want absolute power, just enough to make them feel important.

    ahh Miss Havisham

The Liberal Democrats are a capitalist party, they are just like the Tories but they pretend to care, so you will get a little of the fiddling around the edges of Tory type polices, of course they would side with them, because they are already on their side.

Just like the true yellow Tory she is...

How Jo Swinson voted on Welfare and Benefits

1.Almost always voted for reducing housing benefit for social tenants deemed to have excess bedrooms (which Labour describe as the "bedroom tax").

2.Consistently voted against raising welfare benefits at least in line with prices.

3.Consistently voted against paying higher benefits over longer periods for those unable to work due to illness or disability.

4.Consistently voted for making local councils responsible for helping those in financial need afford their council tax and reducing the amount spent on such support.

5.Almost always voted for a reduction in spending on welfare benefits.

6.Almost always voted against spending public money to create guaranteed jobs for young people who have spent a long time unemployed.

    Of course they would..

Like everyone else who has commented, my view is - yes, of course they would. Lies and self-interest are their habit.

  • L. Hill - 5 years ago

Yes, of course they would. Their leader is as vain and unscrupulous as Johnson underneath her wide smile.

It is an indictment that the Lib Dems would support the #ToxicTories. It is scurrilous that they could form a government with this right wing Tory Gov. All the terrible policies that have broken this country and divided it can be laid at the door of the coalition in 2010. Jo Swinson voted, see the HOC voting record, for all the swinging cuts to the welfare system and supported fracking. The Lib Dems should never be trusted again.

Libdems will do anything to keep the status quo..
    Vote for Liedems getTory

The LibDems really Tory Lite! Yellow Tory. They don't care about the poor, sick, disabled or vulnerable. They will do whatever they can to get into power because a coalition is the only way they can ever get into any form of power or control. If they do this again they will definitely lose so many members they will become the party with no MPs at the next election. It seems Jo and gang can't see further than their own career and not that of the country.

Swiinson's career path will lead her straight back to the Tory Party of course. She really enjoys being a Tory and is terrified of Socialism. Her so called 'hatred' of Corbyn is nothing more than an excuse to wreck proceedings.

Traitors since Nick Clegg and his cohorts put Cameron in power. Never been able to trust them since. Swinson is cut from the same cloth - crimplene rather than silk.

  • Dave Morris - 5 years ago

    Yes they will.
Jo Swinson was on video prior to winning the leadership contest stating to a small audience that a coalition was the best was for the Lib-Dems to enact policy.

  • Ron Rafferty - 5 years ago

LibDems - Tories - two cheeks of the same backsde

  • Mrs Christine Cullen - 5 years ago

Swinson is not to be trusted. Too many contradictions in what she says over time. In coalition or a pact the conscience-free Tories would eat her and the LDs for breakfast.

  • Stuart Ewing - 5 years ago

I think she would. She wants attention, and by propping up the Tories, means she will be on television a bit more.

  • Stan Smith - 5 years ago

These people are not the same as those who supported Labour politically in the 1920s to 1940s, who had a genuine regard for social justice and the common good. They are largely careerists looking for advance in the neoliberal media-saturated entrepreneurial economy. In this, they justify the contempt of populist Brexiteers for a privileged elite not prepared to pay the price of their politics. They also exemplify to socialists the kind of soft-chewy centrist policies that want all the safe options of an unsustainable utopian fantasy of 'radicalism'.

    Alas for the Liberals’ vainglory.
    It’s now a familiar story.
In future, take note: give the LibDems your vote
And you’ll end up electing a Tory.

  • Jason Noble - 5 years ago

    No doubt about it.

  • John Mcilveen - 5 years ago

They would do anything for a sniff of power

  • Ros Jesson - 5 years ago

The Fib-Dems conned a lot of people in 2010, campaigning to stop uni fees, then stitched up an arrangement even before the election to support the Tories in not only keeping them but raising them. They will do ANYTHING (jiust look at her voting record) to have another 15 minutes of infamy.

  • Kevin Safford - 5 years ago

    Of course they would.

  • Dan - 5 years ago

Of course they would . This bunch of self serving yellow tories are desperate . They've shown what they are , nothing but contempt for them . Finish the job , wipe them out of Parliament .

  • Nk Weaver - 5 years ago

Swinson has voted consistently to support Tory austerity. She hates Corbyn. Seemus clear which way she’d jump.

  • Dave Russell - 5 years ago

The Lib-Dims are yellow Tories. Always have been and always will be. Like the Tories, history has shown us neither can be trusted.
