Why Does the Church Conduct Routine Worthiness Interviews?
To encourage repentance by giving members a regular opportunity to confess sins to a bishop or other Church leader.
To prevent those who are impure due to sin from sacred places and from performing or participating in sacred rites.
To give members a regular self-check to determine their own commitment and worthiness level.
To remind us that we can only attain salvation through the endorsement of the Church and its leaders.
To define what is required to be a Church member in good standing and to control member behaviors in line with this definition.
