Ubuntu's Lighter Look: Are You a Fan?

Less hack, less pain. Let us not complicate our lives and focus on important things. So go with the light theme! I really like it. I like very to reduce the unnecessary modifications.

Ubuntu is still orange-purple-violet - so how can a lighter theme lessen its identity? Even somewhat? You'd better exercise restraint, Joey, and avoid propaganda.

I'm a fan of dark themes, and recently I feel my voice has been heard by "mainstream" tech producers as we see dark theme options becoming more available. So long as there is an option to change the theme, or perhaps even some sort of engine available to allow 3rd party themes to be made, I'm generally happy enough.

I used to always switch to the light theme when it was available, so I'm a fan.

Gnome ui is ugly as well as dysfunctional.. I've switched to chromeos and I find it more stable as well as faster and more pleasing to the eye.

I find stock Adwaita pretty drab, it reminds me of the theme windows 10 is using. Just too much grey, no character.

I really miss the GNOME 2 days and, even though GNOME 3 has had nearly 10 years to mature, I still feel it was a step back in many regards. Performance is worse, the interface is way more locked down, and a great deal freedom seems to have been taken away from the user. It just seems they gave up so much for the sake of creating something "modern".

I used to run GNOME 3 on my HTPC because the oversized UI elements made it easier to click things using my airmouse, but the performance hit led me to switch DEs as more and more games were struggling to run. These games run just fine now that I'm using Unity on the same 18.04 install.

A great deal of talent and effort went into creating GNOME 3, and many users really do seem to like it. On the surface, I'd have few major hang-ups about using it other than the fact that it saps performance and its UI is too locked down for my liking (even when compared to Unity).

I appreciate lightweight desktops like LXQT and could overlook what I feel are GNOME 3's short-comings if, instead of being perhaps the heaviest DE available on Linux, it was one of the lightest. Likewise, I could live with having to sacrifice some performance if the look and feel really spoke to me. Instead, when it comes to performance, appearance and usability, I find GNOME 3 is mediocre at best.

I think they should have both, because Google and other is are now having both. Why can't Ubuntu have both.

As I mentioned in the comments in omgubuntu I think it will clash with dark apps, and since we already have Adwaita why reinvent the wheel?
