Matt Barrientez, Racine Horlick boys volleyball: The senior setter led the Rebels to the title at their invitational Saturday. The team went 7-1 and defeated Dominican, 25-23, 25-17, in the final. He finished the day with 124 assists, an average of 15.5 per match, with 14 aces, nine kills and five digs. 12%
Chris Fish, Racine Case football: The senior linebacker led Case to a 21-0 victory over Racine Horlick on Friday. The Eagles allowed just 132 yards of offense on the way to posting their first Southeast Conference shutout in 15 years. He finished with 14 solo tackles that included four tackles for a loss and one sack. 28%
Jack Gresham, Homestead football: The junior connected on a 26-yard field goal in the second quarter and a 35-yard field goal in the fourth quarter of the Highlanders’ 34-31 victory at Whitefish Bay on Thursday. 2%
Evvie Kaczkowski, Lake Country Lutheran girls volleyball: The junior outside hitter helped the Lightning bring home the title at Pewaukee Pirate Invite on Saturday. In the semifinals and finals, she posted 21 kills. When the Lightning beat previously undefeated Pewaukee in the final, Kaczkowski had 13 kills and a .200 hitting percentage. 4%
Amanda Karvala, New Berlin golf: The junior, who attends Eisenhower shot a 9-over-par 45 at Washington County Golf Course Sept. 19 to help the team take second at the tournament, which was shortened to nine holes due to weather. Karavela had the lowest nine-hole scoring average in the league for the second straight season (43) and won six of eight mini meets this year. 25%
Connor Leffler, Germantown football: The senior did a little of everything to lead the Warhawks to a 27-0 victory over Sussex Hamilton at home Friday. Leffler lined up at running back, receiver and quarterback and scored a touchdown at each position to help the team improve to 3-2. He finished with 113 rushing yards in 19 carries, caught two passes for 25 yards and was 2 for 2 passing for 15 yards. He also kicked off, punted and made three extra points. 3%
Isabela Ross, Oak Creek cross country: The sophomore beat a field of 183 runners to win Racine St. Catherine’s Angel Invitational Saturday at UW-Parkside. She completed the 5,000-meter course in 18 minutes 53.8 seconds, 43 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. She also won the West Allis Central Invite Sept. 6 and South Milwaukee Rocket Invitational Sept. 14. 2%
Jordan Schifano, DSHA tennis: The Dashers senior scored three straight-set victories last week to follow up an impressive run at the Nicolet Invite Sept. 13-14. She capped that tournament with victories over Homestead’s Natalie Yang, a state semifinalist last season, and Badger’s Zaya Idersul, who reached the Round of 16. 4%
Campbell Stoll, Arrowhead swimming: The freshman standout was part of three first-place finishes at Waukesha South’s Blackshirt invite Saturday. She won the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes 8.50 seconds, a season-best time that ranks second in the state , according to the state coaches association top times list. She also claimed the 100 backstroke title in 57.18 and swam the opening leg of the Warhawks’ first-place 200 medley relay that won in 1:48.34, a time that ranks third in the state. 2%
Joshua Truchon, West Allis Hale cross country: The junior ran away with the title at Racine St. Catherine’s Angel Invitational Saturday. He completed the 5,000-meter course at UW-Parkside in 16 minutes 7.9 seconds, 28 seconds ahead of the runner-up. It was his second victory in as many weekends; he won South Milwaukee’s Rocket Invitational Sept. 14. 14%
Luke Willis, Kettle Moraine Lutheran boys soccer The Chargers went 4-0 last week and took sole possession of first place in the East Central Conference thanks to their senior forward/midfielder. He had nine goals in the matches. The big one came Tuesday at the 87-minute mark when he scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory Plymouth in a matchup of league co-leaders. Three days later he came through in another 1-0 victory, getting the game’s only goal at 85 minutes against Shoreland Lutheran. 3%
