I can't wait for HIMSS. A couple of peers and I are often on the exhibit floor as they begin tearing down booths. If you seriously invest the time to conduct a thorough review, there are not enough hours in the day.
The networking opportunities alone are worth the trip.

I avoided HIMSS for a long time as I considered it Woodstock for Healthcare IT. When I had specific product interest I went because I could schedule time to see a number of potential vendors' solutions. It required some discipline to avoid the fun house. Full disclosure, I did thoroughly enjoy seeing the B-52s in Atlanta and will always be thankful for Jonathan Bush introducing me to Dwayne Dopsie and the Zydeco Hellraisers in New Orleans. Maybe I'd feel differently if they called it a trade show instead of a conference.
