When a broker fails to pay you for a load hauled, what have you done in response?

A couple of years ago, there was a company J&B Trucks that brokered a load to WR Logistics who then brokered the load to us. These people never had any intention of paying what so ever. When the bill came due, he very bluntly said "I filed bankruptcy, file on my bond". I called the consignee who is still a very large nation wide dental provider. They immediately said that it was not their problem. I informed him of a very small section of the carmack amendment. He said that he'd call me back. 20 minutes later, I received a call from the 3PL that was hired by the dental company. This guy paid the payment in 2 installments and in 2 weeks. I've done this a couple of times and it works. For the record, J&B trucks, AFT Logistix, WR Logistix, and a few others were all owned by Hagop Tervartanyan. It seemed to be a manner of doing business for them but after we got paid, we dropped it.

I billed repeatedly, adding interest and penalties each time. After 90 days of no response, I gave them a 1099 for the entire amount.

I've used Owner Operator Inc to help me. They helped me get back every pennie a produce broker for Gerber Foods up in Michigan. I can't recall the lady's name there at Owner Operator who was in the collection department at that time but she was a true go getter and she got all 5,000 dollars of my money. I'm not sure but her name might of been Joan.
