I would buy a new Model S MCU as soon as it's available. I always like having the latest technology and am willing to pay for it.

The old MCU will die somewhen in the future because of the sd-card with limited write-ability.
Better get a more power mcu instead getting it replace by the same type mcu.

I’d buy it just to avoid the eMMC problem that Tesla’s bad design has created for MCU1 equipped cars. Why spend the same amount to replace a dead MCU with a new one with the same issues? I don’t care about the games

I would upgrade for the dashcam recording facilities while driving and while parked. Its evidence in an accident and potentially worth far more than the 2k

I was told the update to MCU 2 will cost me 4000,-€ a few months ago...2k€ seems like a bargain to me now!

My 2014 MS has a low-capacity flash device that will fail soonly, due to excessive logging. Outside of warranty it would probably cost ~£2k to replace it with another lifed MCU-1. Better to spend the money on an MCU-2 board, with a higher-capacity flash device, which might then last the life of the car, or at least mine.

I have a 2015 Model S 85D. Browser sucks and I constantly have to reboot but I would not pay $2K to upgrade.
