Pitt has several disadvantages which will be very difficult to obtain and maintain a top football program! 1) City universities do not draw fans consistantly (especially with a pro team and many other options for their entertainment dollars). Just look at other large cities with a college football team. They just don't draw fans well even when they where successful. 2)Pitt's BOT or whoever makes the football decisions just haven't made the commitments needed for a successful program. From afar it appears they are not willing to make the time and investments required for becoming a big time program! 3) They have alienated past fans and alumni (this is obvious because the lack of apathy and financial support by the fans/alumni). 4) Heinz Field does not feel like home. The stadium looks like a second rate or low cost operation. NOT CLASSY. The Steelers who run the stadium have many of the public buffaloed - they are cheap and give the impression that Pitt is the red-headed step child. 5) The media's lack of interest hasn't helped.
