Barry Gardiner was the first name that came to me after Jeremy said he would resign this year. He is an excellent speaker and politely but succinctly takes no nonsense. We need you, Barry!

When I saw that Barry was going to stand my mind said now I know who I will vote for. No doubt the best person for the job
    .

Agreed. Barry will be brilliant. We need someone who can stop the ordinary people believing the Tory media bs. Long Bailey needs time to develop & steel herself for the abuse that will come, like they did to Jeremy. Barry can weather it. But paramount is to ensure that the left agree one candidate to get behind. We do not want to hear any more from the 'Tories' masquerading in the Labour party.

    Please go for it Barry.

Barry must enter his candidacy. He is the straight forward, no nonsense kind of politician the UK needs as a prime Minister.

Erudite and dapper. I hope he enters the race. Whilst I welcome a potential female leader of our party, I don't think it's RLB's time just yet. Barry has a no-nonsense approach that was sadly lacking from JC's tenure.

I would have more confidence with Barry Gardiner as leader as I think he would be able to see off people like Keir Starmer, the person who deliberately betrayed the party and the people on Universal Credit, the homeless, the sick andeverybody that needs foodbanks.

  • Kevin Crampton - 6 years ago

I thought of Barry Gardiner as possible leader before anyone had declared.
Long Bailey is sincere but is being exposed too early. She needs time to develop

Barry has been my choice for nearly a year. I really do hope he will stand. Most of my friends agree!

  • Zbigniew Luczynski - 6 years ago

Barry is solid. He has my confidence as a loyal supporter of the manifesto and did not let us down when attacked by the MSM.

He will stand up to the right and Blairites.

I like what I see. Need to research more, but so far, he'd be my pick.
I'd still rather Jeremy stayed though. He was cheated. We all were, by the corrupt Tory media and rigged votes.

Barry is great. But RLB is better, and we don't want a vote split.

  • Andrew Heenan - 6 years ago

Splitting the vote is not an issue - it's not FPTP, it's STV - so the more standing, the better.

  • Terry Stevens - 6 years ago

One of the things the Corbyn revolution has done for us is to present the left with a wealth of talent to chose from, the Labour Party has never been so vibrant with its potential leaders but we must be cautious as the right wing are still a major force to reckon with and coupled with the media machine the will do all they can to discredit the left. I think Barry is brilliant but the left must bite the bullet and produce one candidate to get behind because if we lose the Party will go back to the dark ages of right wing reformism.

  • Mike Haigh - 6 years ago

Barry will get my vote. Do us all a favour Barry. Enter the race and you'll win it.

  • david spencer - 6 years ago

Barry Gardiner seems to be a solid socialist, able to rebuff the attacks and lies from the mass millionaire owned media.

  • Jayne - 6 years ago

Barry was in my thoughts straight after the election we need his ability to see of the media, if the new leader doesn’t bend to the MSM’s demands RBL and now hopefully Barry He has already shown he is more than a match no matter the interviewer backed up by Dawn Butler as deputy what a formidable pair that would make the MSM would still attack but both would attack straight back, I like RBL a lot but Barry edges it on that public front that’s needed

  • Mark Bebbington - 6 years ago

If he is " the left candidate " OK. The Left really need to avoid splitting the vote , this might allow the right to succeed. ????

  • Nick Georgiou - 6 years ago

Any of RLB, Clive or Barry for me
Socialism and visceral hatred of the Tory media as a prerequisite for my support

  • Geof Hughes - 6 years ago

As Barry gave a really good account of himself and stands for the policies put forward by Jeremy Corbyn and the grassroots members, I will gladly give him my vote.

  • Kathryn Johnson - 6 years ago

I am swayed towards Rebecca LB for leader but respect to Barry G, Ian L, etc. My main concern is that there is only one left candidate for leader and only one for deputy leader. Don't split the vote!

  • Simon Blackwell - 6 years ago

Barry gave great account of himself alongside Jeremy during the last campaign, and he has my full support as future leader of the party.
