Long run and disputed rallies are the best to play, and the best to watch !

But people loves to talk about serves.

Shane, thank you for your comment! I love the idea! The most fun i've had playing roundnet is in a raquetball court, with one bounce! One grass that's not perfect there may need to be a sturdier ball that bounces better! Test it out and post some videos!

The two serve rule is good at its core. With one serve people would still press their serves as people choose to do with 2 anyway, haha. Having a defensive mindset is important but it just has such a high margin of error in a game played in 360 degrees with no boundaries. Even when you finally guess the angle correctly you still have to have the reaction time and technique to make a good touch. My suggestion for revision lies in a bounce rule. No boundaries need be added, no new equipment needs to be purchased, and defensive mindset will only be incentivized and given a higher margin of error. Just like beach volleyball and indoor have different rules and tennis is playable on multiple surfaces, so should it be for Roundnet. I think the introduction of a one bounce rule will allow forgiveness for good defense, punish poor finishes and provide for extended rallies. After play testing we could determine whether the bounce should be allowed once per possession only before the first hit, whether it should be allowed on serve return or whatever. It seems to be one of the only options that doesn’t require more equipment, or boundaries. It rules out sand and clumpy or long grass but no one really wants to go full send on clumpy long grass anyway. And no one has the speed to do it consistently all day in sand as effectively as hard surface. These are just a rough draft of thoughts. Hope someone enjoys the read.

Everybody sees sick dives or guys running down long balls, and that’s when they fall in love with roundnet. If everyone focused/tried on defence, rallying wouldn’t be an issue. The best defensive teams (anchored li, mauktega, Schweppes, etc) are still awesome to watch cuz they use their athleticism to play defence and get breaks that way. There needs to be more emphasis on defence, everybody likes to talk about serving or hitting but we need to talk more about defence and I think their is just a lack of understanding regarding defense. The live stream Kenny Ortega did helped shine some light on the subject but I think there needs to be even more tips and content on defence available
