Vote: Top Ohio DI boys basketball player of the week, Jan. 13
Nic Smith, Walnut Hills – The senior forward had 22 points, 9 rebounds in a 59-51 win over Woodward Jan. 11.
Alex Mangold, Lakota East – The senior had the game-winner in the 34-32 win over Hamilton Jan. 10. He had 19 points, including a layup off an assist in the last minute, and 12 rebounds for a double-double.
Deairius Randle, Princeton – The senior guard had a team-high 16 points in the one-point win over Greater Miami Conference rival Oak Hills Jan. 10.
Demetrius Walker, Western Hills – The senior guard had 20 points in a loss to Wyoming and 17 in a win over Clark Montessori Jan. 11, adding 12 points in a loss to Woodward.
Austin Dennis, Oak Hills – The junior had a game-high 22 points Jan. 7 in a win over Lakota East, putting Oak Hills alone in first place in the GMC. He also had the winning steal last Friday against Lakota West. He is second in the GMC for field-goal percentage and has been bouncing back and forth to first as well. He shoots 88.9% from the free-throw line.
Max Land, Moeller – He had a team-high 14 points in the win over La Salle Jan. 10, to help the No. 1-ranked Crusaders start the GCL-South schedule with a win.
Jaylen Lemons, La Salle – The senior guard had a game-high 15 points in the loss to Moeller, the Lancers’ first loss, going 6-for-13 in the field. One of his 3-pointers helped La Salle lead 16-7 at one point in the game.
Mitch Greer, Mason – He had 19 points in the 43-41 win over Lakota West Jan. 11, helping the Comets come from behind at the half to outscore the Firebirds in the second half.
Donte Turner Jr., West Clermont – The senior point guard has been playing with an injured rib all season and, with the rib now healed, he scored nine points in the win over Loveland, his best this season so far, to show he’s coming back to form.
Hank Thomas, St. Xavier – The senior forward had 31 points – a season high – along with 13 rebounds and two blocks in the 58-45 win over Elder for the GCL-South opener Jan. 10.
