Vote: Top boys swimmer and diver of the week, Jan. 13
Phillip Miller, McNicholas – The senior won the 200 IM and 500 freestyle in the tri-meet with Roger Bacon and Purcell Marian Jan. 7, helping the Rockets to a team win.
Jacob McDonald and Adam McDonald, Lakota East – Jacob, the senior, won the 500 freestyle and the 200 freestyle, and Adam, the sophomore, won the 200 IM and 100 butterfly, to help Lakota East take a third-place finish at the Princeton Swimming Invitational Jan. 11.
Aidan Stigall, St. Henry – The diver scored 203.10 for first place at the Forcht Bank Class A invitational – the catholic schools state meet – Jan. 11, 2020, helping St. Henry to a team title.
Mac Russell, Highlands – He won the 100 freestyle at the Scott Classic swim meet Jan. 11.
Owen Taylor, Scott Soblewski, Ian Van Gorp, Jean-Pierre Khouzam, St. Xavier – The 400-freestyle relay team got first place to literally edge Louisville St. Xavier 143.5-142.5 in the home dual meet, a meet that saw several lead changes. Each of the boys also got individual titles in the meet: Van Gorp (200 free), Taylor (50 free), Soblewski (100 breaststroke) and Khouzam (100 fly). There were 15 All-American efforts in the meet.
Owen Pelzer, Oak Hills – The senior won the 100 backstroke and the 100 butterfly at the Princeton High School Swimming Invitational, to help the Highlanders to a second-place team finish.
Peter Schmelzer, Turpin – He won the 50 free and the 100 fly in the team win against Mariemont. He was also a member of the winning 200 free relay and the 400 free relay teams.
Luke Paxton, Badin – The junior won the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly in the tri-meet Badin team win over Lakota West and Lakota East Jan. 6.
