Ignoring massive breaches and the fact that even perfect security practices are imperfect (and that data sources can be hacked), it is interesting that Google appears to have managed more than 1 billion Gmail accounts for more than a decade without "doing any evil" (or nothing nefarious enough to stop growing this service).
