I'm really struggling. There are so many wonderful products!!
I'd like to make a suggestion for next year. How about having 2 categories, one for best product design and one for most skills demonstrated?
Some of these are hands-down the most gorgeously designed finished product: perfect fit, correct fabrics used together, breathtaking texture and fabric combinations. BUT not as much work involved. Maybe they made more minor adjustments to their original materials.
Others involve an incredible amount of skill with total refashions and all kinds of embellishments, but the design of the finished product is not as good. Perhaps it is not as practical (for example, fabric weights that aren't good together, textures and colors that don't work together, or items where the fit is off).
This puts me in a tough spot. I want to vote for the most SEWING skills shown, but if the finished garment is not as amazing, it's not as useful of an upcycle, is it? Because it won't actually get used as much as the incredibly designed finished products.
I'd like to see both sets of people win prizes!
