Should Apple set an example in encouraging working from home?

As a veteran of Apple, I find it quite funny that a writer who makes their living off of collecting and spreading rumors would be bold enough to tell any company what is best for them. Unless you have worked in the environment, understand the complexity of the technology infrastructure, the risk associated with accessing customer information from outside the corporate network, and the myriad of other reasons why Apple and many other companies prefer an office environment then you are free to state an opinion, but don't frame it as a directive.

I no longer work for Apple and my new role allows me great flexibility to work remotely. However, I choose to come in to the office because this is where my team is most of the time. Working remotely minimizes the opportunity for impromptu interactions that often result in some of the best ideas and solutions to problems we are working on. Sure, some people are more productive at home, but to make a blanket statement that it will somehow result in all employees being happier and more efficient is simply wrong. Not everyone thrives in the work at home environment. In fact multiple studies show that a significant number of people will actually become less satisfied with their job and have greater emotional issues if deprived of the face-to-face interactions that the office environment offers.

Again, I regularly read Benjamin's article on 9to5Mac, and have never commented before. But this one struck a nerve. I'm certain his intentions are good, but lack of knowledge and understanding is obvious in this situation.
