What should Bears do with Leonard Floyd?

FOR PACE TO SIGN BRIDGEWATER, HE NEEDS ALL THE MONEY HE CAN FIND TO SEAL THE DEAL.. IF NEED BE, SOME HIGH PAID PLAYERS MAY NEED TO MAKE TEMPORARY SACRIFICES. THIS IS A TIME FOR ALL TEAM MEMBERS TO PULL TOGETHER IN ORDER TO HAVE AN EXTENDED POST SEASON PLAY IN THE PLAYOFFS. THEY WILL BE HAPPY THEY DID.
Leonard Floyd might end up becoming a collateral damage in the process.
If there is enough room, Floyd's role may need to be redefined as multi functional as opposed to being a pure Pass rush specialist. Since he plays the run much better now, he could stay back to play pass coverage, runs, or blitz. I still feel that his coaches are to partially blame for his static development. This all depends on whether the bears feel his current salary is worth paying under any circumstance. I would ask him for a home discount i.e. assuming he still wants to be a Bear. If he leaves maybe he will blossom elsewhere. Location is a mystical thing. I believe people prosper in certain cities, and struggle in certain ones according to their astrological Stars & Charts.

I think you keep him this year, he does more than pass rush. He has really improved against the run and can drop in coverage as well, he was able to put pressure and hits on QBs without getting the sack total that is an overrated stat if he’s doing all the other things. Losing Hicks and changing schemes with a new DC may have had impacts as well. If you look at the FA market effective Edge players are being paid, tagged or on the downhill side of their careers. The old adage “the grass is always greener...” comes to mind.

Release him! Sign someone else on a 1 year incentive laden contract for half of Floyd's $13M.

Floyd needs to be released. Just restructuring his contract does not make him a better pass rusher or help reduce the triple teaming of Mack. The Bears can find a better option in the draft or free agency and free up cap space for a back up RB or slot WR.

You can only release him if you have someone that will come in and play as well (for less money ), or hopefully better. This determination is what Pace is getting paid for. Floyd has not performed as well as anticipated but if a replacement turns out to be a bust how quickly can we get a replacement for Pace?

money needs to be spent in other directions RELEASE HIM

I personally like Floyd, so it was hard to say release him.
However, he has not performed at the level expected of him as an Edge Rusher. We needed him to present a "Threat" to other teams offenses, so it would take the double and triple team off of Mack.
So, unless he's willing to take a pay cut to remain a Bear, I support releasing him.
