I felt that season 3 was the best ever and a great part was due to the character of Dr. Melendez. He was a man with many facets to his character which needed exploring especially his relationship with Claire. It was absolutely not in the best interest of the show and story lines to delete him from the cast.
Figure out a way to bring him back from the dead! The soaps do it so why not do it on The Good Doctor!

I'm in agreement with everyone else. Why watch now? My mom said she doesn't watch the good doctor anymore.i said I really like this one character, and I keep tuning in for that. Obviously, melendez. His budding romance with Claire made me excited to tune in to the next episode, which honestly is the first time this show has done that for me. Now he's gone? My reason to watch is gone.

I didn't like that Dr. Melemdez died and I didn't like that Shaun got with Leah did not like the finale

  • Rose - 6 years ago

Shaun needs to come in and save the day for Dr. Melendez in the opening show of next season.
Leah is just too sappy and a poor actress. She can be written out. Carlie was great with Shaun.
The whole scenario with Shaun trapped in the basement and water amputation was beyond ridiculous. It almost made we stop watching the finale. Who writes this stuff?! The show needs some new writers writing actual realistic believable story lines.
The scene with the young man trapped under the beam dying and Dr ? who stayed with him was a little more believable.
I would honestly give this two-part finale a 4/10 due to the poor story lines. Compared to other medical shows The Good Doctor competes with the writers better pull up their socks or this show won’t last much longer.

I work in Healthcare & think that the Good Doctor is massively brilliant show - please don't lose the precise cutting edge techniques of the show!
Now as for the demise of Dr. Melendez - it was way too soon. His character went from robotic to compassionate surgeon in 3 seasons & he could have shared more of his sensitivity/wisdom had he not been written off. Also going to miss Dr. Park. Loved that his character had once been a police detective & he was able to merge his logic skills w his surgical mentality. It would be great to keep Dr. Park on the show. His last scenes in the Season 3 were brilliant!

Very disappointing! Cannot see why it was necessary to have Dr. Melendez die.
How is this improving the show?

  • Lalaine Fajardo - 6 years ago

Not a very good ending! I cannot believe Dr Melendez is gone. He is one of the best one there. It’s not going to be the same... bad decision. It makes me angry! Booooo

  • Kelly - 6 years ago

What a terrible decision , to kill off melendez! Melendez was a key member of the success of the show. He is an incredible actor and deserves to be back for next season. If he is out . I'm out !

  • Joni - 6 years ago

Ditto! Dr Melendez was the best part of this show. I’m done watching.

  • Linda C - 6 years ago

Very disappointing ending, mostly with Dr Melendez dying but also don’t want to see Shaun and Leah as a couple!
Not sure if I’ll watch next season.

I'm a loyal watcher and huge promoter of the Good Doctor. By far was one of the best shows on TV. But I'm just soooo disappointed that they killed off Melendez. With the exception of Shaun, they literally could have killed off anyone else but him. I HATE Shaun and Leah together! I loved home with Carly. I understand shake ups, but not total devastation. I don't know if I'm going to watch next season. Makes me sad.????

I enjoyed Melendez but his lost love because of his job was redundant. A huge boost of estrogen will infuse the entire show now that 2 of the main male characters are gone or could be gone. I liked exploring Shauns love interest with pathologist but Shaun and Leah taking on new challenges could be interesting. Will be hard to infuse a male character to replace Melendez but is needed and am excited to see what they have in store.

Melendez better be back somehow or this show will lose so very many viewers! Guaranteed death of this show.

  • Jill - 6 years ago

Are you kidding? You know the saying “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. No reason for this. Ughhh!! It’s only season 3 why now?????

  • Francine - 6 years ago

Very, very disappointed in the ending. Why did you kill off Dr. Melendez. I feel that was a big mistake. It is definitely going to make a difference in your amount of viewership. Sorry, but you lost me as a viewer.

  • Marcelle - 6 years ago

Dr Melendez was the hottest and the best actor on the show,
    the reason I watched.
Find a way to bring him back.

  • Nirvani - 6 years ago

I love the show & Dr. Melendez is my favorite male character. I along with so many are very disappointed he was killed off. I was really looking forward to seeing the Neil & Claire love story. Hope this is just a dream & they will bring Neil back by some miracle.

How could you? What a stupid thing to do cutting Dr. Melendez' character out of the show. Is that supposed to be some kind of ratings gimmick? If it is then EPIC FAIL. You just lost a faithful and loyal viewer. That ending absolutely STUNK. Why didn't you get rid of Morgan or Park or Andrews? Melendez and Claire had something beautiful growing between them besides a leap into the sack, but I guess we'll never know now what could've been. America could've used a big boost in the midst of a pandemic crisis, but you made it worse. Thanks for a big fat nothing. Not to mention you ending your season in March when everyone goes to May sweeps. I'll NEVER watch this show or ABC network again.

  • Kathie - 6 years ago

Well that was the end for me too! Don’t think this show had enough ratings to kill off a favorite character! Even if it survives, I’m done !

  • Mary Donaldson - 6 years ago

I love the Good Doctor and I wish Nicholas Gonzalez the best in his next venture. The final scene with he and Claire brought tears to my eyes. As did the scene with Dr Park and his dying young patient. And, from the sound of his conversation, he may also be leaving. I don't feel killing off Dr. Melendez was in the best interest of the show. Especially not at a time when we, in real life, are losing our loved ones at an alarming rate to a disease we cannot see. I know the writers had no idea what would be going on at this time when it was written but, Dr. Melendez was important to the show in so many ways. I really wish they would have kept him or left it open to bring him back.

  • Carol David - 6 years ago

I hate to see Dr Melendez leave the show. I didn't like the romance between him & Claire. I wish Shaun would fell in love with the doctor in the lab.

  • Denise McMahon - 6 years ago

Seriously was this necessary to kill him off? Claire was actually going to be happy for once. Get rid of the blonde doctor if anyone.
Melendez was hot, unique, interesting and perfect for Claire.

  • Emmy - 6 years ago

Yes I am sad about Melendez but I’m more than irritated that Shaun and Leah got together. She’s toxic and self centered. I have removed this show from my series manager, my watchlist and my top five list of favorite tv shows! I will NEVER watch it again.

  • Pissed off - 6 years ago

Writers made a huge mistake killing off Melendez. I’m done with the show!! I think many people feel the same. They just killed their show !

  • Gris - 6 years ago

I am definitely done watching if they killed off Dr Melendez. Shaun needs to come up with a miracle treatment.Bring him back.

  • Michelle - 6 years ago

Very disappointed. I truly loved the good doctor and the cast. I feel you made a huge mistake killing of Dr. Melendez. It will be a shame if this becomes the demise of the show as you have a very talented cast. I know I will not watch it as faithfully as I did as Dr. Melendez was my favorite.

  • Michele - 6 years ago

Very disappointed in the writers choice to have melendez die, he was one of my favorite characters dont know how good the show will be without him . This has changed my interest in the show.

  • Gail Zimmerman - 6 years ago

I was crying the entire episode and felt so sad that Dr. Melendez died. I kept hoping a miracle would happen and he would live but sadly that wasn't true. There will be a hole in the storyline for sure but I still like the show. I hope the actor who portrayed the character will be seen in another series in the not to distant future. Reminded me of when Matthew died on Dowton Abbey I felt the same emotions!

  • Jane - 6 years ago

Hottest Dr ever... why watch now!!!! Bring him back!!!!!!!

  • Stephanie - 6 years ago

I’m so disappointed that Dr. Melendez has been written off of the show.

  • Wendy - 6 years ago

Poor decision!! Thanks for the warning so I will not get more involved in the show. You took away a great character, so who will be next? No thanks not watching to find out. The way it ended is great way to end it for me

  • Emily - 6 years ago

I can’t believe they had Dr. Melendez die. He was one of my favorites!

  • Maria - 6 years ago

Never watching the show ago. Melendez was one of my favorite characters. I was really looking forward to see him and Claire in a romantic relationship. Very disappointed finale.

  • Mary J - 6 years ago

VERY DISAPPOINTED!! HE WAS THE BEST CHARACTER!!

  • Rob - 6 years ago

So so wrong if Dr. MENENDEZ IS REALLY WRONG. HE KEEPS THE SHOW TOGETHER AND HE HAS TOO MANY UNFINISHED STORY LINES. IN THE FINAL SCENE DR. BROWN LEAVES THE ROOM AND WE SEE HIM. HOPEFULLY HE IS STILL ALIVE. HE BETTER BE. THE SHOW WILL GO DOWN WITHOUT HIM.

  • Cara - 6 years ago

Was disappointed that Melendez was written off the show; I think the producers made a huge mistake in writing him off. I loved his relationship with Claire. Not sure if I’ll watch again.

  • Gwendolyn Cross - 6 years ago

Am done. Melendez waa my favorite character.

  • Lisa Ellis - 6 years ago

I’m so disappointed! Can’t believe Dr Melendez died. This is NOT the way to end this season!

  • Suzanne McGraw - 6 years ago

I’m done with show. Dr. Melendez was the reason I loved the show. ????
