The nostalgia I felt every time Babyface came through with another hit was something I haven’t felt in such a long time. I’d consider paying for that.
Babyface left ‘Say Goodbye’ with Madonna, Unbreak my Heart, Baby Baby Baby by TLC, and other monster bops, while Teddy still had No Diggity, Remember the Time and all the rest of the Dangerous album. The key to these battles is the monumental song you finish off with. Everyone knew Ne-Yo was coming with Irreplaceable and everyone knew Johnta had We Belong Togerher in the tuck. But the moment when the songs start playing and the chat room and Twitter lose their shyt and reminisce is what was missing from the Teddy vs Face battle. And I’m gonna always be okay with that. Our old R&B uncles tried their best to figure out these Internet’s!!!

I’ve never thought about going to see one of these “battles”, even for free. I saw clips from the Teddy Riley v Babyface royale on Desus and Mero - even assuming they only showed the messed up parts, if that is how these battles go, no thank you.
You would think that some cable channel might pony up some money to run some of these. ESPN is running HORSE tournaments - this isn’t in their wheelhouse, but TV seems desperate.
