Idiotic approach from an idiotic U.K. government who’s legacy will be the failure to control thier country as the rest of the world looks on wondering, how did U.K. reach 35k deaths?

  • Jackie - 4 years ago

The media and UK Gov are being scrutinised like never before. People who have never taken much interest in politics are getting their eyes opened and can see the contempt by both UK Gov and MSM...not before time, we are in the the biggest crisis that anyone has ever faced and the actions of some have sickened a lot of people. What we are facing is too serious to play petty point scoring.I am no fan of SNP but am seriously impressed with how Nicola Sturgeon and her advisors are handling this crisis. The chasm that is patently obvious between England and the rest of the UK grows wider by the day

  • Joyce Bell - 4 years ago

57% of the people who died in Scotland died in nursing homes. Many were sent from hospitals at that time with no covid checks to free up beds, then passed on from resident to resident.

  • Matt - 4 years ago

No plan Sturgeon at it again. Stay indoors and be safe....Oh and a matter of interest you get 80% of your wages.

  • Helen - 4 years ago

The Tory govmt exposed yet again. The Carry on Corona approach has exposed their inept approach and lack of true knowledge research and grip on this situation...

  • Craig John Macfarlane - 4 years ago

The proposal from England that our furlough money will be stopped because England has eased it's lockdown is a stark reminder of why we need to be independent...

  • Donald Macleod - 4 years ago

Westminster and the Tories are making a total mess of the situation their messaging is unclear and they show they can not be trusted

  • Ann work - 4 years ago

I agree with lockdown being kept in place. Better safe than sorry.

I think we are safe here in Scotland under Nicola sturgeon because we are keeping the virus under control.

  • Linda - 4 years ago

Nicola Sturgeon is doing a superb job. I'm sorry for the English folk at the moment. Your Prime minister is a bumbling fool. He has blood on his hands and no doubt will have more before this is over. I hope and believe after this is over, Scotland will have independence. Westminster has disenfranchised all but the English throughout. Better together?! I think not.

  • WILLIAM WALLACE - 4 years ago

SCOTLAND ALWAYS OUTSHINES ENGLAND IN ABSOLUTE EVERYTHING WE DO AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO. THROUGH BREXIT AND COVID THE TORYS HAVE SHOWN THEIR TRUE COLOURS AND WILL RAISE TAXES AND HAMMER THE UK WITH MORE AUSTERITY THAT IS NOT NEEDED. THEY DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOU OR YOUR FAMILY. SCOTLAND WIL HAVE INDEPENDENCE AND BE FREE NOTHING CAN STOP IT THE UNICORN WILL BE FREE!!!!! THE UNION VOICE IS SILENCED AND WILL NEVER BE HEARD IN SCOTLAND!!!!!

We locked down two weeks before Scotland here in Ireland, we’re STILL IN LOCKDOWN. Our Covid cases were 93 yesterday with 11 further deaths much less than Scotland. Just goes to show what you can do when you have full control over your own country.

  • John hester - 4 years ago

Nicola has been clear and consistent with the information, she is right to maintain lockdown, Westminster is following the herd immunity program which is taking its toll on the population in England.

  • Jacqueline Brown - 4 years ago

Let’s be clear,it’s England that’s out of step with the rest of the UK,why all the scrutiny on Scotland, and not NI or Wales.Your polls clearly shows there’s overwhelming support for NS,hope you do an article on that.Nothing but admiration for the professional, compassionate way NS has handled this crisis.I look South at theLondon government and come to the conclusion they’re all psychopaths.

  • Laura McKellar - 4 years ago

Nicola is doing what is best for the citizens of Scotland and she needs more powers to be able to take full control of our beloved country before Boris kills more innocent people due to his incompetence

  • Carol O'Donnell - 4 years ago

Nicola Sturgeon is following the best plan to protect the NHS and the people of Scotland

  • Lawrence - 4 years ago

I don't vote SNP but trust Nicola Sturgeon to have Scotlands and the Scottish peoples best interests at heart way way way before Westminster or any unionist politician or party

  • Jennifer - 4 years ago

While I applaud Nicolas cautious approach, I do wonder how this can be continued in the long-term. Without a vaccine or treatment for this virus our way forward is limited. I hope that this is being looked at in the worst case scenario that neither can be found. We cannot continue lockdown long-term.

  • George Brown - 4 years ago

Nicola Sturgeon has approached this Pandemic with total professionalism and rationale, Boris Johnston has been the complete opposite

  • Louise - 4 years ago

As much as I hate lockdown and miss my family and friends, I would rather we be safe and take precautions now than regret it later.

What annoys me is the people who think they can do as they please, meeting up with friends and travelling out of your area to 'exercise' while the rest of us continue to follow the rules. Selfish!

  • Isabella Malcolm - 4 years ago

Please reboot your question to ask the correct question: How do you feel about England's (London centric) Lockdown Strategy and Westminster's indifference to the Health and Safety of those in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and North England.

  • John Fairley - 4 years ago

The first minister is taking a safe rational view on the situation in Scotland. My main concern is the non existing system of checking passengers who travel by air into the UK.

  • Kirsty - 4 years ago

Why does there even need to be a poll about this??
Nicola is doing the right thing! Might not always be the best choice but she is working hard to make sure she puts the safety and well being of Scotland first.

    Boris is a fucking MURDERER!!!!

I am so sorry to all you people in England who are like lambs to the slaughter! I am so sorry your leader is a complete idiot and things money is more important than a life.

I will always stick by Nicola and the SNP.

So i do have to ask... why is Nicola wrong? Why is Scotland wrong?
Why is it every decision made is picked apart by stupid reporters?

Why is there not interviews and polls on
    "is Brois a murderer?"

3 out of 4 nations are not easing lockdown.... so why is Scotland wrong?

This is the sort of shit that makes my blood boil!

Everyone listen to your FM, stay home!!!

If you wanna follow Brois then fine go for it, head south and enjoy.... just make sure you get fitted for your coffin.

  • Linda Patterson - 4 years ago

Stay in lockdown, health over wealth all the way!
    Well done Nicola !!

  • Juney - 4 years ago

Putting health over wealth (unlike Boris) is to be applauded. Strange times but a positive move from NS

  • Andy - 4 years ago

I proud and mainly clad that I live in Scotland and I think it’s to early to lift the lockdown.i have said before the virus has two hands and I don’t want him to wave with his second hand it will be worse

  • Rae Blair - 4 years ago

Clear direction, spoke to the people of Scotland, put them first NO lies, her message has been clear from the start of Lockdown. She is doing what is right for Scotland and I can't applaud her direction, decision making and transparency enough. Wel done First Minister.

  • Frances Morris - 4 years ago

Why would I not trust our First Minister who, from the beginning, has been honest and open, keeping her public informed. Who has carried the burden of the daily updates and answering repeated antagonistic, insulting questions from a hostile ,right wing Press who are in cahoots with BJ and his band of bloodsuckers. With policies and psychological manipulation very similar to Putin and Trump, why would I trust any politician from the Conservative party? For all those who died in 2 world wars and numerous conflicts in defence of this U.K. They would be horrified by those who died because they were deliberately put in the path of this Virus. 75* years ago the tories lied to the troops going to fight, many of them Scottish. Now we, the voting public, are not even statistics, not even a number, we are disposable. If you can’t save money on benefits and social care then the alternative is get rid of a good percentage of those who need them.

  • Jennifer Wallace-Zotou - 4 years ago

The day that I will listen to Boris Johnson ahead of the WHO has not dawned, and never will. On the other hand, Nicola Sturgeon has worked hard to protect lives in Scotland - by taking real expert advice. It's simply a fact that it's impossible to protect an economy while thousands upon thousands are dying. You protect the economy by protecting lives, and by pushing out massive amounts of rescue funds, and then stimulus. Classic keynesian economics. Or, as it's called now, 'quantative easing'. And no - it doesn't have to paid for by horrific levels of austerity - this is a Freidmanesque lie - as shown by Portugal, post '08. It truly appears - I hope it is not so - but it appears that Johnson's policies are devised to kill off those expensive elderly, and chronically ill people. That's what Cummings has made plain at any rate. Thankfully, in Scotland, all live is precious.

  • Bill Hill - 4 years ago

Keep your Tory nose out of Scotland's business

  • Ann Stewart - 4 years ago

Maybe we cld start letting family's be together so that only 1 or 2 family members have to leave house to do shopping etc When @Nicolasturgeoun decides to start lock down ? I say this as I have around 8 in my family and be better , 2 doing shopping than us all having to go at different times?Only a suggestion ?

  • Paul Steel - 4 years ago

Time to close the borders, no one in no one out.
Westmonster showing again that it has no clue about what is best for Scotland, NI and Wales.
All devolved government's should be given full autonomy so as to new able to do what's right for their citizens without added pressure from Boris and pals.
    Saorsa Alba Gu brâth.

  • Russell Hamilton - 4 years ago

I never thought I'd say this, but it's time to close the border. The UK govt are absolutely clueless. Money before people is their mantra

  • thomas - 4 years ago

if look between size of population and death toll so far scotland is 3rd as wales is small but have hi death so adding that into england been hiest by 5 times size of scotlands on base of land mass , go scotland snp is doing well so far its early days ..............my lockdon plan would be locked down in 2 to 3 more months as long as there some lingering they can come back as time of 3 to 7 to know have it how many have you interacted with before you get better or even worst by then 100s can infected , also out come on children that found new out comes of different virues that started up by that of covide 19 so even kids can pass it on as like audults pass on its passoner that make problems so all scotts should stay home were some coverings and to keep distance as much as one can

  • MR LAUCHLAN MCEWAN - 4 years ago

It’s the right thing to do ,gradually open up . If there’s anything to be learnt from 1918 flu pandemic is that there’s further waves to come . The whole of the U.K.Coming out of lockdown together is just pure colonial jingoism. Remember Scotland never got the plague Which was rampant in England in the 17century because they closed the border

  • Cathie - 4 years ago

Even though testing is still limited, she is still reporting more than 100 new cases every day. We need to drive the overall number of cases down and have the track trace isolate and support strategy up and running before easing up.

  • Kevin Greenan - 4 years ago

I back Scotland’s more cautious approach.

The virus hasn’t become less deadly or infectious and we haven’t suddenly become immune.

  • Joyce Moore - 4 years ago

I'm totally for our first minister, Bojo should be more realistic, and understanding, after having had it himself, So yes I'm all for sticking to the lock down, but everyone has be in the same frame of mind for THIS TO work or else what's the point in all of this. This sooner we get to grips with the rules the sooner the virus will die and not lives, Then the sooner WE WILL GET BACK OUT. If we ease up on the lock down to soon the this horrible, nasty, killing Virus is just going come back with avengance, it will be a lot worse than this time, So think be you make your desicion to go lying on a beach sunbathing or gathering in big groups please Consider the thousands of people and their family and friends Who have their loved ones through this horrible virus Stay Home and Stay Safe everyone,

  • Jim Ross - 4 years ago

Feel sorry for our neighbours down there being led by Bojo the clown in a very bad performing circus.

  • David Brown - 4 years ago

What a strange question to ask. How can any of your readers answer this? The evidence and discussions around it are taking place constantly with Scottish Government who are then ballancing the risks of easing restrictions against the hardship of a continued lockdown. We just have to trust that they are getting it right.

  • Catherine Carr - 4 years ago

It has been an awful time being in lockdown but have to agree with our First minister lockdown is the only way forward at this moment in time. Imagine how soul destroying it would be if lockdown was eased and a second wave of the virus peaked. All our sacrifices would have been in vain. I would hate to be in the position of having to start a new phase of lockdown. Be patient people and trust our First minister she has our safety at the forefront. God bless.

  • Phyllis Fraser - 4 years ago

Totally agree with Nicola Sturgeon as she has been consistent throughout this pandemic, BoJo has been all over the place.

  • Phyllis Fraser - 4 years ago

Totally agree with Nicola Sturgeon as she has been. BoJo has been all over the place!

  • Jacqueline Welsh - 4 years ago

Total Support for our First Minister

  • Moureen McDonald - 4 years ago

I am no longer watching the Westminister briefings as I am sick of listening to their self righteous back slapping . They couldn’t hold a sincere coherent thought if they tried. As the Uk now has the 2nd highest number of deaths behind AmerIca I think the FM is correct to be cautious on removing the lockdown . People need to have clear concise information and plans need to be put in place to ensure that on easing restrictions people are safe and we don’t risk a second and more deadly wave . The gung-ho attitude of Boris and co playing with peoples lives is unbelievable. Nicola Sturgeon has conducted herself in a professional and compassionate manner throughout this terrible time.

  • Raymond Ross - 4 years ago

People living in Scotland, really need to understand, England will always come first what is good for them and sod the Scots. Scotland really need to come together as one people and go for Scotland`s freedom and independence, for the sake of future children, this is not an equal partnership, Scotland is treated like a slave and that is the truth, with englands 533 Mp`s to Scotland`s 59 Mp`s should tell the Scots who are the fools to put up with the Westminster corrupt system where England rules and sod Scotland.

  • james imray - 4 years ago

Janey Godleys alter ego's the boss and I trust her judgement

  • Mark Young - 4 years ago

FM of ???????????????????????????? is doing the right thing, Germany recently relaxed there lockdown rules & now looking at reinstating them as deaths have risen again. I totally agree with Scottish Governments approach.

  • JOHN ROSS - 4 years ago

its not a matter of proving who is wrong or right its a matter of moral support and solidarity in a time of crisis which is affecting each and every one of us and not just england mr johnson says we cant have our independence yet here he is ignoring the rest of the nations if this is how he handles a crisis of this magnitude god help us if war should break out the other nations would most likely be used as cannon fodder

  • Tony Hendrix - 4 years ago

As an Englishman living in Scotland for years and years I feel totally at ease with what Nicola is doing, she's a born leader and thank God she's ours.
Obviously I have many relatives in England and worried sick about them, surely to goodness there has to be someone who has the sense to run England properly, one thing is certain,it's not the Tories.

  • David Thomas - 4 years ago

Total support. Shown us nothing but the utmost care for our welfare. Huge responsibility and daily she ably proves she especially but not forgetting her brilliant support team, ministers, senior officials and the Scottish Government backroom 'squad' are up to the task of seeing us all through this safe as possible. You don't need to like her, just hold steady with her till we all get to the far side of the pandemic. Best leader I've had the pleasure of witnessing in 45yrs voting.

  • Melanie Dalton - 4 years ago

There's been a lot of name-calling and political blame from the media and other parties, except one. Nicola in't afraid to face the public or the media, unlike a certain PM and is willing to admit to any mistakes. I fear for my daughter in England. But I am SO glad that I live in Scotland and that we have a leader who is mindful of us, the people. Thank you, Nicola, for being there for us. You have our respect.

  • Simon Gordon - 4 years ago

Why would anyone suggest otherwise. ? Death rate is still far too high to consider opening up.

  • J Mitchell - 4 years ago

Nicola Sturgeon has put the welfare of the people first, every day she presents the facts clearly with compassion. I would hate to think what position we would be in now without our devolved government.

  • Colin luker - 4 years ago

Nicola Sturgeon is doing a fantastic job holding it together giving clear and concise leadership

  • Bill Borland - 4 years ago

This poll is a thinly-veiled piece of propaganda. It is not Sturgeon who has deviated from accepted wisdom, nor the leaders of Wales or N.I. It is Johnson who has ignored, and broken from the 4 way consensus, without consulting the other 3. He will be responsible for many more deaths...

  • Richard Mackenzie - 4 years ago

She has shown real leadership and genuine concern and empathy for everyone during this crisis, never brings politics into any of her goverments decisions, made for the benefit of our country, others in Westminister could take a lesson from her, namely Boris.

  • Margaret Laurie I - 4 years ago

I agree with the decision to carry on with the current restrictions. Too early to change the situation.

  • Tracy Thomson - 4 years ago

I agree that we should stay in lock down

  • J Colthart - 4 years ago

Our first Minister has been and is incredible throughout this pandemic the tories and BBC and newspapers keep trying to bring her down with same questions and if you watch her she answers them every time without losing it.The media and BBC should remember the pm does what his puppetmaster Cummings tells him what to do and the UK has 4 countries in it and 3 of these countries not just Scotland are following the proper guidelines and keeping their people safe. Thank God we have Nicola a true Leader and Politician.

  • William Crowe - 4 years ago

    Definitely yes

Bojo is the worst prime minister in recorded history Is there anyone still listening to anything that he says?

  • Caroline Colquhoun - 4 years ago

I am totally in agreement with Nicola keeping the country in lockdown.

  • Caroline Colquhoun - 4 years ago

I am totally in agreement with Nicola keeping the country in lockdown.

  • Bryan Doyle - 4 years ago

I need to get back to work as I am not
furloughed or entitled to the self employment scheme. But safety first. I would rather be skint than catch the virus or see a rise in the amount of with the virus which would cause far more damage to country.

  • N. Tighe - 4 years ago

If we abandon lockdown at this stage of the pandemic in Scotland when it’s still not wise to do so, it would like climbing Everest and stopping 100m before the top because you can’t be bothered. Why would you do it. I can also see England going into lockdown again as infection and death rates rocket - probably at the same time as we are coming out of lockdown. And guess what? We will be portrayed as the bad guys. They are already trying that with the devolved nation when it is England that has abandoned the four nations strategy. You couldn’t make this nonsense up.

  • Lesley McM - 4 years ago

Please First Minister do not feel under any pressure to ease the lockdown in Scotland until you are 100% sure it's right for the people of Scotland. And when you do ease it slowly so you can measure the impact of any change.

  • Mak - 4 years ago

Its utter madness to suggest a lifting of these measures at this time. 3 weeks minimum yet to make sure r number is definitely down to between 0.4-0.6

  • Tam - 4 years ago

Nicola is putting the people before money, lock down should continue until safe.

  • Kevin Cameron - 4 years ago

I support Scotgov’s decision to stand fast against CoVid19 100%.

  • Colin johnson - 4 years ago

Nicola Sturgeon advice is crystal, clear, concise, companionate, caring and honest.
    Straight forward no fuzz.

    Boris on the other hand???

  • Mrs Nicola Dowsland - 4 years ago

  • Will MacKenzie - 4 years ago

Nicola is doing absolutely the right thing continuing full lockdown.
I wholeheartedly believe she has the welfare of the lives of the people at the forefront of her agenda..
I have zero confidence in BoJo and don’t really listen to any of the same old drivel he spouts at PMQs or anywhere else

  • Tom Rattray - 4 years ago

As a front line key medical worker, I implore you all to please protect us by adhering to the lockdown. It is far too soon to be relaxing any regulations and overwhelming our NHS.

  • Brian Patterson - 4 years ago

I'm glad that ms sturgeon is in charge in Scotland during this virus and I'm sure if she was in opposition she would still be working hard for Scotland unlike the opposition parties are performing just now . Game playing does not achieve anything

  • Brian Harper - 4 years ago

There is a clear danger that lifting the lockdown too early will cause more deaths. The Scottish Government are doing the right thing.

  • Daniel Maclean - 4 years ago

Scotland's Nikola Sturgeon has got her finger on the pulse so to speak.
At the moment she can do no wrong and rightly so.
    Credit where credit is due.

  • John Mcdermott - 4 years ago

Nicola Sturgeon has the Scottish people and their safety at heart and if her remit was to include the whole of the UK she would do the same job for everyone all peoples health and safety mean everything to her as she is the most humane leader in the uk

  • Diana Croll - 4 years ago

i agree with the lockdown in Scotland

  • Margaret Lear - 4 years ago

I'm hugely grateful. The First Minister is putting the well-being of the nation above the well-being of the wealthy few. Sending people back to work in England without stringent safety measures smacks of viewing workers as cannon fodder.

  • David couttsòo - 4 years ago

I am 100% behind the FM. It is the right thing to do.

  • David paton - 4 years ago

Neil the only one trying to score points is Boris Johnston he knowns the first minister has the full support of the scottish people and that the issue of independence will never go away! I would rather nicola kept the lockdown in place as long as is needed not like Boris Johnston who is willing to play with people's lives!

  • Ailsa Grant - 4 years ago

The FM is absolutely right in what she is doing. With respect, I know we are the second largest of the 4 UK nations but are you also asking if Arlene Foster and Mark Drakeford are seen to be doing the right thing? Everyone just picks on Scotland forgetting it is the entire rest of the UK that are sticking with lockdown, it's Borris that's the odd one out here not Scotland, Wales or NI

  • Neil - 4 years ago

The Fm is just trying to score points against the PM.They should be held to account about the scandals of the Nike conference and the care homes
