Right click -> open in new tab... No issue either way.

All Histalk content should automatically open in new tabs and pop-ups, regardless of user preference. Additionally, there needs to be a lot more animated kitten gifs, obnoxious colors, and blinking text!
[p.s. don't change anything! Histalk is already perfect.]

I *always* (manually, using a right-click option) open links in a new tab, then go through each tab before coming back to the main article page. So, it would not bother me one way or the other if HIStalk needed to make any changes.

I prefer links opening in the same tab. You always have a choice to open in a new tab with middle click, and I do when desired. Links forcing a new tab are an annoyance.

I would prefer it to open a new tab. It's irritating to have to back up to return to reading.

I use middle-click instead of left-click when I want to open a link in a new tab anyway.

I prefer not to have to use the back arrow.
No issue. Content keeps me coming back
