No I don’t believe they should be able to drive they aren’t responsible enough to handle a tractor trailer some of them can’t even drive a car without getting into trouble plus they are always on there cell phones which is a distraction n they can’t even ride a skate board without crashing w it

I say that if they were in the military and have served their term in the military and they got the experience of driving Military trucks/equipment/18 wheels. Because they would have been in for two years or four years. I would think that they would be OK to drive Commercial vehicles. But 18 to 20-year-olds that has not been in the military to get the experience I would say no for them to drive commercial vehicles.

I've been driving over 30 year's and feel the ages between 18 -20 year's old is far too young to be put behind the wheel of a commercial vehicle in this day and age of the trucking industry.

I used too train a lot of young drivers they were not ready for the task or the job at hand and theses guys were 23 to 30 the new drivers just drive they don't know how to work on any of the equipment and they don't practice safety. I have over 30 years safe driving no way the age should be lowered 21 is pushing it in my view

What is different between driving 2500 miles a week in one. state at 18 than 2500 miles in more. Than one state

I don't have a problem with kids ages 18-20 to learn the profession,But when I started 36 years ago i made a lot of mistakes, when I mature enough to get the grasp of driving I begin seeing different areas on how to respect the profession respect the rules of the road and understand how the industry works. It not a good idea to put 18-20 year old young men and women out there with no kind of experience on how to read a road map or know some of the information they recieve to other fellow driver might get them in trouble, And what mean is that some youngster trying get info to get somewhere and they are told some wrong info about what they are doing. This job contain alot of thinking and concentration it like playing chess.

I know a lot of 18 to 20 year olds that could drive an 18 wheeler if giving the opportunity. In fact I know some "adults" that can't drive to the gas station without acting like a moron and irresponsible. I think most would be surprised at what 18 to 20 year olds are capable of.

Today's 18-20 year olds are NOT responsible enough to drive a 80,000 missile. Yes they can serve in the military,but that's just it they are supervised by adultsand not given any jobs that require a great deal of responsibility they are told what to do when to do it and how to do it unlike driving a truck.

There’s not a shortage of drivers to company’s that pay. Read truckers report at the lowdown crap company’s out there. Most 18 and 20year old kids are not even able to drive to the locale Walmart in a car all the training Schools just want money. Are you Sure you want your family on the road with a 18 year old driving a 80.000 pound truck with little to no training.
