Hi Karen and Rod: I’m a week behind but caught up now to say: Congratulations! I’m so proud of you two and I’m happy to have been along for the ride and growth. You two work so damn hard and you work to really bring us complete shows. It’s truly appreciated and this is truly deserved!
Rod, I appreciated your candor re: anxiety. When Karen detailed why she’s a flight and not fight person, I was weeding my garden and mumbling: it me! It me! Over and over. I definitely decided long ago to shut out things that greatly displease or distress me. That includes people. I’m working on a more balanced approach in therapy. Sending hugs and light (lol!)

Thank you for again bringing up this topic. Just this year one of my sisters just caught on that I’m clinically depressed. So it’s an everyday battle and not just “Iman is sad today.”. I also have seasonal affective disorder (SAD), which I suppose is slightly easier for my family to understand than my depression. It’s definitely important to continue to open up about it, so people can understand it. Last year my husband opened up about how he wasn’t really prepared for my mental health issues before we got married. I’ve always been open and honest about it, but that still didn’t help him truly understand. So we’re both in therapy and I’m really proud of him for going.
There’s been a difference in the way he reacts when I’m at a low point or having an anxiety attack.

Erasing stigmas doesn’t happen overnight so thank you for bringing the topic up again.

    Love y’all
    Iman

I have had an attack that I knew was an attack at the time but it was r/t [related to] recreational drug use. Psychoactives can be difficult to deal with if you can't 'surf the wave' and I was a 19 year old with zero experience. Now give me some mushroom tea once or twice a year in a cabin next to a fire during the winter with some friends and I'm cozy.
