You are ABSOLUTELY correct when it comes to mamas and grandmamas not passing down the full recipe! I've seen both my mama, and my gramma, do this! With my own eyes! When I was little, I heard my mama tell one of her friends how to make sauce for meatballs. She left out, like, 2 ingredients, and added one that she didn't even use! When she hung up, I asked her why she did that, and she said, "Hell! They ain't finna have MY recipe that I figured out! Their li'l sauce will be a'ight"! I bet everybody at that baby shower had meatballs that "tasted like Ms. Punkin's, but was missing something"... SMDH!
