I wanted to like this because I loved Miranda. Was hoping this would roll out like the Office transplant did..taking the spirit of the UK version and adding the best of American sitcom magic. No such luck. This version seems harsher, more jagged. The mother/daughter relationship doesn't have any authenticity. Maybe it is Swoozie's unfortunate plastic surgery or Miam's caustic delivery and eye rolling but it all seems forced. Endured 2 episodes but I am all done with this. It lacks the charm and whimsy of the original.

This is sad, why try to copy a show that is so completely an original and based loosely on Miranda, THE comedian! There are too many things that feel like you're ripping off Miranda's originality.

  • Lisa Smith - 3 years ago

It's forced. Original Miranda was easy and timing was spot on. Its was such fun!! I couldn't even finish one episode of this Kat show.

  • Rick - 3 years ago

I was very disappointed in what could have been a new vehicle for Mayim. Talking to the camera broke any rhythm the show hoped to generate. Kat was too cute and not believable. Won’t watch again.

Breaking the 4th wall is a good device if done correctly. Think final episode of Moonlighting. Kat got.old in 5 minutes. Cancelled series recording.

  • kim robinson - 3 years ago

Miranda does it so much better. No comparison! Im grateful to this show for making me want to go rewatch the Miranda episodes all over again!!!

And I liked The Big Bang Theory... a lot. Don’t like her talking to the camera. None of the supporting cast is worth watching. The show is not at all funny!

  • Tim - 3 years ago

Should have done a Blossom reunion instead.

  • Diana Crichton - 3 years ago

I liked the show. I think she should talk to the camera less but don’t remove it. I like Leslie he should stay. I felt the choice for her mother doesn’t work and her BFF was not believable the chemistry wasn’t there. There should be more interaction with customers and their cats.the show was funny and I look forward to future shows.

I don't think I even laughed more than once or twice. Leslie Jordan was the funniest. Cheyenne Jackson added some nice scenery.

I like the talking to the camera part, the sing and dance part, but I didn't expect to be so close to the original Miranda. I was expected to be just inspired by it. Anyway, I will never miss an episode. I hope it will get better and better.

Boring boring boring. Expected more got less

  • Marsha Hopkins - 3 years ago

Hated the talking to the camera, plus the supporting cast blah!!. Leslie Jordan was the only one worth watching.

  • Jennifer Schreifels - 3 years ago

I very much can relate to this character since she is pretty much me...39 (well, almost) single, has social anxiety, talk to myself, and loves cats. The only difference is that I don't own a cat cafe, but do often get told I should buy one. Besides that I wasn't too impressed. There was too much breaking the 4th wall and I don't know how exciting this will be because I'm sure no one would watch a show about boring me so audience will probably lose interest fast, but Mayim is pretty charming (loved her as Blossom) so we'll see.

I love the 4th wall breaking, it was a big part of Miranda, very British aspect of the reimagined aspect of that show. Was a bit annoyed by the recycling of Miranda jokes however. And I love the fact that they did use the dance and wave of the cast at the end, it is fun and silly and keeps with the Miranda feel of the show.

  • CArol Zinsser - 3 years ago

We do not like her talking to the camera. Would like to see more cats

  • Don Shields - 3 years ago

I really like Mayim,,dislike the broken 4th wall thing. Hopefully it will go by the wayside. The laugh lines were few and far between, not really up to a Chuck Lorrie style of pace... yet. Some character reactions are overdone, but in true Brit TV fashion (British humor doesn't always work with an American TV audience, because our cousins abroad are more refined and cerebral. Americans are rather base and prefer jokes based in sex, and body fluids...)

I will continue to watch until its cancelled, or runs 8 years.

Did not like the talking to camera at all. And was not as funny as it could be. Writing not great. I tuned in because of the cats but only really saw one which is a tortie like my cat. I do not think show will survive

  • Jennifer - 3 years ago

Not a fan of talking to the camera. If they change that I may watch more.

  • Patricia - 3 years ago

I loved it, but agree with others that the talking to the camera was too much. It seems like that was the main theme of the show, not the show itself.

  • Sue - 3 years ago

The only thing wrong is when she looks at screen to tell you her thoughts. It disrupts the flow. Just let the comedy run naturally. If the audience does not get the point then the writing is poor

  • Jackson Hall - 3 years ago

Love the BBC show MIRANDA!!! So far, love the show Call Me Kat! Hope the USA audience gives it a chance. The comedy will take off..SERIOUSLY!!!

We sat down as a family you watch the first episode. We really like Mayim and wanted to like this show... but didn't. We all agreed-probably won't watch again. Way too much talking to the camera, too many over-the-top reactions/pratfalls and didn't buy the relationships. Best friend who doesn't want a plus 1 for her best friend? Swoozie Kurtz with her over filled/botoxed/lifted lineless face as her mother? Cheyenne Jackson as a love interest? Don't buy any of it. The only bright light was Leslie Jordan and even he was reduced to a mama's boy. Ugh. Epic fail. So sorry because we love the idea and most of the actors... Just not together on this boring show.

  • Lisa Tosoff - 3 years ago

Kat and the bff...doesn't have bff vibe at all.
Swoozie isn't a good match for mom role....Infact McCarthy from Mike n Molly would have been a awesome match for mom role.
Like the cafe...needs a few more cats tho.and more customers n interaction with kat.the talking to camera must be a *thing*this year? The kid on saved by the Bell does That too....

  • Greg Briner - 3 years ago

Take away talking to the camera. Was weird.

  • Tara - 3 years ago

I love the first episode. Mayim, Cheyenne, Leslie, and the whole cast were great! If one can’t see the depth of this show, then I weep for humanity.

  • Patricia Sierra - 3 years ago

The show is an average comedy with potential to be better. Take away the talking into the camera. It takes away from what could have been a funny moment. And definitely, absolutely no song and dance scenes.

I am a fan of Miranda and this is very similar. I laughed all the way through, especially since I was able to make connections to similar characters and scenes in Miranda.

I feel fortunate that I get to watch this Americanized version.

(I do agree with a former comment that I expected more cats, but it is only the premier.)

  • Nathan - 3 years ago

I thought it was hilarious and will definitely be watching future episodes!

  • Sharon Palmer - 3 years ago

Her character needs a makeover !!! That hair style is so bad . She needs to stop looking at the camera after every statement !!! That being said , I love her in general.

  • Sandy Key - 3 years ago

Boring is an understatement. She should talk to the cats instead of the camera. Really?

  • Yvonne Diamond - 3 years ago

Yeah, I love Mayim Bialik and Swoozey Kurtz, but I kind of see this not making it out of Season One. Too many people trying to be Amusing who just aren't.

  • Ray Rock - 3 years ago

Nice breath of fresh air. Simple and cute. Let's see more. Luv ya, Kentucky!

  • Jeremy - 3 years ago

Boring. Too much talking to the camera and there wasn't actually any thing funny happen.

  • Renee Jullianne - 3 years ago

I LOVE IT! It's light hearted, fun and new! Really something to look forward to!

  • Steve Smith - 3 years ago

Boring. I hate the talking into the camera. Not funny for promoting a comedy.

  • Leah Bieda - 3 years ago

I thought the show was boring. If this is a comedy it was not funny at all.
