The size of the Universe is such that it is impossible to believe, in a rational sense, that we are the only form of intelligent life 'out there".
"I don't know" is of course, the only truly scientific answer one could give but in my opinion, that is "coping out". There is no evidence at this time but how can we possibly "see" every part of the Universe in order to tell?
From a philosophical point of view, I think we have to assume there is intelligent life "out there" and so "Yes I believe there is" is my response.
