Mike was a good host but we like Ken better. He shows a warmth as Alex always did. Ken is comfortable to watch and we still feel a connection to Alex when watching Jeopardy. No disrespect to Mike, he seems a little too polished for us and not enough of the warm homey feeling. Time will tell.

Obviously whoever wrote this piece doesn't like Ken Jennings. A subtle version of a push poll.
Bev - 4 years ago
I really felt Ken Jennings was exceptional hosting Jeopardy. He is intelligent, personable, self-assured and humble. He’s a natural and an obvious choice.
David Josephine - 4 years ago
Both Ken Jennings & Mike Richards did a Great Job, when you consider the "BIG SHOES" that had to be filled for the survival of the " "Jeopardy" Show!! I personally liked Ken a little better, due to the fact he was More well "Versed" with the questions & answers, also, Ken being a man of Much Higher Intelligence, overall than Mike.
Gail - 4 years ago
I prefer Ken over Mike. Mike is too comical and way too animated need to tie his hands behind his back. His arms and hands are flailing all over the place as he speaks. He really doesn't enunciate nor pronunciate words like they should be as did Alex Trebek. Heaven forbid, if you have any of those other people sportscasters, newscasters, doctors being host, I won't even watch the show; it's becoming ridiculous.
Paula Pile - 4 years ago
My preference is Ken! Mike is ok but not as affable as Ken!
Sky - 4 years ago
Definitely Ken. He is the perfect host who makes it all about the contestants and the show which is what Alex would of wanted. I enjoy his manner and he has a likability and natural way about him. Mike appears too much about Mike and not the show. He reminds me of a used car salesman just trying way too hard. Not natural or likable and he talks too much. It is not about him, it’s about Jeopardy. Ken should honor Alex by being the new host. Alex would approve.
Darla - 4 years ago
I prefer Mike. He's more of a fit, voice, tone, mannerisms. I never cared for Jennings even as a contestant. No logical reason, just what it is.
Abbigail - 4 years ago
Ken is my man. I've watched him from the beginning until his position as G.O.A.T. and forward. He just has everything it will take to do the job well and keep things going the way Alex would have. He loves the game, he loves to play the game and the filming schedule will still allow him to do his writing and pursue his other endeavors. He's your man, too. Yeah, KEN!
p.s. You know, every night at the end of the show when he leaned into the camera and said, 'Thank you, Alex', I got out the tissue as he was so sincere that I just knew he meant it every time.

Ken, by far, has been the better guest host. For Ken it was about the show and Alex. For Mike it was about Mike. I'm quite surprised that the poll shows Ken behind. Mike must be stuffing the ballot box.

Ken Jennings The Best
Nedra Falls - 4 years ago
Ken Jennings is known in the industry, so he knows the ins and outs. He knows what is expected. Ken Jennings stepped in and made it fresh. He was handed a task unimaginable and he did it justice, and utmost respect. Good job, Jennings.

Ken was very pleasant, but entirely vanilla....is anderson cooper still on the list? Like mike’s ease and comfort level

It's fun to see how the hosts do. They both did a great job. I think Jennings can evolve into that hosting duty. Jennings admitted that these are big shoes to fill. One adjustment, if a contestant provided an answer but not complete, he can say "be specific". He may act too assertive to providing answers when contestants come up with a wrong answer. These are just minor adjustments. A classic development for a young superstar.
Leigh - 4 years ago
Ken is so likeable and seems so genuine. Just like Alex, he always makes it about the game, not the host. Mike just rubs me the wrong way when it comes to hosting Jeopardy. He has hosted other game shows (in addition to producing) and has that smarmy game show host thing about him... It would get worse with time and would not only ruin the show, but the memory of Alex.

I am shocked that Richards leads in the poll. Ken Jennings did a superb job and seem so natural. Richards seems forced and scripted, not natural. He is improving as he goes along, but Ken is a much better choice.

Ken all the way. Mike is too phony and a typical millennial douche!!

No one can truly replace Alex, but Ken Jennings and Mike Richards have both done a very good job. I'm looking forward to seeing the other guest hosts, and in no hurry to have the show name a permanent replacement. Can't understand why comments here are trashing Katie Couric; she hasn't even been on yet! It doesn't matter to me if the next host is a man or woman. I would like to see Brad Rutter as one of the guest hosts. He has a very pleasant voice and manner, and I think he might do well.

I liked them both. Great job by both.

Have loved Alex and this show forever. I stopped watching after Alex died. I never thought anyone could fill that spot. Then I read a review about Mike. Watched the rest of his shows. You don't have to look any further. Mike please.
Elle - 4 years ago
Ken Jennings! I really think that I won't watch the guest people as much--definitely not Couric! Yikes! Mike did okay but I am Ken Jennings all the way! He's personable and we know that he knows all of the answers! Let's skip the guests and just get Ken back!

I love Ken Jennings. His thank you to Alex at the end of each show is short yet obviously sincere and heartfelt. On the other hand, Mike’s speech quoting Alex is overlong and awkward. It sounded much better when Alex said it.
Ken Jennings should be the permanent.

Question: the next person to be the Host on the game show Jeopardy ?
Answer: who is Mike Richards.
There it is. Look no further. Viewers Set your tv channel to Jeopardy, grab ur beverage , get comfy in ur recliner and set that control right on the arm of your chair. Now u can relax and enjoy the show ! It’s all good now. ????

Mike Richards is too weird and he reminds me of Woody on Toy Story. Ken is a great host or star!

I prefer Ken got tired Mikes constantly saying “No we were looking for “ after every misses answered. But I’m waiting to see what all the other have to offer. But from the list of future options I will most likely stick with Ken.

Smarmy condescension describes Mike Richards. He just doesn't seem authentic. Ken is real people and he's really authentic. Ken all the way!!!!

Mike Richards has the same demeanor & charisma that Alex had & is wonderful with the contestants. Love his personality.

Bryant - 4 years ago
Both did an admirable job and tried their best to honor Alex, but I just found that Mike talked too much in my opinion. Between opening the show with his own little speeches and aggressively cutting in and (over)explaining answers, it seems he talked FAR more than Alex ever did in an episode. Again, I respect that he did his best filling impossible shoes, but Ken stuck closer to Alex's mantra that "The show isn't about the HOST; it's about the contestants."
Candy Alfred - 4 years ago
Ken and Mike both bring the same class to the game Alex exhibited. Professional, credibile, respectful, personable and encouraging.....perfect fit! No one will ever fill Alex Trebeck's shoes. I love how both gentlemen give genuine honor to Alex each show.
As far as the other hosts....I will have a difficult time watching. I'm prepared to "get on with the show" with Mike or Ken!!!!

I wasn’t sure of Mike the first week. He seemed a tad too aggressive and too overly confident to suit me. He appears to have backed off somewhat on his second week, and he is now my favorite. The words to the clues glide easily from his mouth and he is a natural. He actually makes the transition from Alex tolerable. Not so Ken Jennings. He was never a favorite of mine as a contestant, and I have no desire to watch my favorite show Jeopardy if he is selected for permanent host. Mike is a natural; Ken is not.

L Marie Blair - 4 years ago
I found Ken Jennings fun to watch as a player although that may have been in some part due to interaction with Alex. I don't want to sound unkind , I.just didn't enjoy his time hosting; he's not as personable as I think a game show host needs to be and the timber of his voice doesn't have the "announcer" quality one would expect.
Leslie - 4 years ago
Ken Jennings brings a special softness to Jeopardy just like Alex Trebek... Alex was a non-Hollywood guy and Ken is that way as well; Ken had a great rapport with Alex and I think Alex would be very pleased for Ken to succeed him.
Deborah Prescott - 4 years ago
Mike was great and he received my vote. As a tribute to Alex, I would love to see Alex’s son, Matthew, take over for just a week. What a standing ovation he’d get! I’m sure he has his own aspirations, it would be a great tribute to dad.

I never have really cared much for Ken Jennings. Too awkward and comes across as seeming to feel he is somewhat above others. Do not want to see him again!! I didn’t watch when Ken hosted. I have watched Jeopardy since I was in my early years of school and I will be 70 soon! It was a joy to watch Alex!!!
Mike Richards on the other hand fits just like a glove. Very nice, charming and acts like he is “one of us”. I have no trouble at all at seeing him every night. A pleasure to watch. I truly believe Alex would approve!!
