I find my “smart” Samsung tv to be in fact stupid. It is a horrible interface, and a pain in the ass to use in combination with my 4k ATV. I don’t have cable tv, just internet, and need to switch back and forth for over the air live local tv programming via a digital antenna through the crappy Samsung interface. Just give me a high quality dumb tv and an ATV. Leave the software interface to some or who actually knows how to create great interfaces, Apple.

I am have two Apple TV device’s and I hate it,because it does not offer you live TV.At least Amazon fire tv or fire stick and Roku tv give more options,Apple tv is to overrated.I will never order Apple TV not now or near future, they do not do shit for you.For example,Roku is giving you a special promotion on their New Roku device for $20.00 and $1.90 tax and $10.00 off (orig price $29.00)what is Apple TV is offering you if you have older version of Apple t(are giving the consumers reduce price for a newer device)I a sticking With Amazon Tv and Roku and Apple TV remotes keep sticking,it sucks,I am sorry voicing my opinion.

Upgraded hardware for sure! I have ATV4K on every TV in my home and basically love it. However, I replaced the remotes with Logitech Harmony because the remote is a total fail. Now I control all aspects of my HomeKit, Sonos and ATV from one excellent device. Apple should make their own version. Also, ATV needs a general overhaul to make it a true gaming device/system. Benchmarking against modern consoles is silly but with a bit more power and storage it could be an ecosystem unto itself. I love many iOS and Apple Arcade games and they play very well (with controller and headset connected) on newer iPad and iPhone. I’d love to see Apple go all-in on gaming and lure more developers. But that takes Hardware spec bumps and probably external/expandable storage. I’d pay $250 considering what it already does and what it could do...

I have 3 Apple 4K Tvs. I have tried all the others, roku and amazon and they dont compare. The apple remote is awesome. Love the arial screensavers and the ability to listen to music and have screensavers on tv while listening. Also really like the home page layout and options to customize. I also enjoy apple organizing music playlist and videos for me to watch and listen.

I would enjoy apple adding a camera option and facetime app for making calls from the tv. I would also like to have a calender app, as well as apple numbers app. In general i would like to have all of the same functions i have on an iphone and not have to use screen mirroring.

I love our Apple TV 4K but I think it’s really important that they look to release an app available on other platform or release a more affordable version in order to push the streaming service further. The Morning Show was one of my favourite shows in a long time and it frustrated me that when I was raving about it to my friends and family, none of them had the option to watch it on tv. Yes, they all have iPads and iPhones but households are not going to watch shows collectively on devices. I’m deep in the Apple ecosystem so the tv box was a no brainier but they have to give others who aren’t like me more of a reason to part with their cash if they want to push the tv boxes further. Or they could go down the app route.

I purchased an LG CX 4K OLED TV last fall. I have an Apple TV HD and want to upgrade to a 4K model but I am waiting for the new model. I can stream 4K via WebOS but the 5 year old Apple TV has a smoother and faster interface. But hbomax isn’t available on WebOS and it’s finally getting 4K. Paramount+ is starting to rollout 4K but the WebOS app won’t support 4K.

Finally, I love the simplicity and elegance of the Apple TV remote. I hope it doesn’t change much.

    Optical audio out is needed.

I’d love a finger print scanner built into the on button so the tv knows instantly who is watching & some sort of camera that could be positioned on the tv so FaceTime calling can take place. The show this feature extensively in Servant on Apple TV but the reality is something completely different

I myself would prefer a new Apple TV device. I have tried the app that’s on my TV, and it’s not as responsive as the external device is. I am also not a big fan of the intrusive advertising I get on my Amazon fire and my Roku device. With the Apple TV, I get the content I want without having to watch anything extra. Just my two cents.

Do we really need a new apple tv device?
Almost all the TV and other devices have an Apple TV included

If the Apple TV can get bitstream/passthrough audio capabilities... it would be awesome! It will truly be the one box that will rule them all!

I own 3 4K apple TVs. Whenever I buy a new one, I also purchase the silver remote that came with the Apple TV 3rd generation. I hate the black remotes that come with the current boxes. I don’t want a trackpad. I want buttons that actually work. The problem with Apple TV box sales is not the cost of the box, it’s the stupid remote. Please pass this message up the Apple food chain. You make a great box, your remote sucks.

Just restore my Apple TV remote app. They stop it from working forcing me to upgrade. Since I feel forced I won’t buy another Apple TV product that forces me to upgrade.

I wish Apple would consider engineering a backlit remote for the Apple TV. Such a let down.

I’d love to take a small stick style Apple TV with me to hotels. It’d be nice if iPhone could Get past the captive portal via Bluetooth. I use a travel router anyway, so whatever if not.

Apple needs to just stick to an app and streaming . Make the app available on all platforms such as Roku .. no tv hardware .

Along with what Apple TV has now, it would be nice to have gaming console like hardware and software.

After waiting for years for new Apple TV models, offerings from the competition are starting to look very attractive.

  • Shawn - 3 years ago

    Just include a decent remote.

  • Marco A Ruiz - 3 years ago

We don’t need a cheaper model we already have one.

  • Eduardo - 3 years ago

I would love a model with all of the obvious hardware improvements (newest chipset, etc), but also have apple introduce FaceTime capabilities and the option to attach a webcam via its USB-C port.

  • Brandon - 3 years ago

Would love to see it not only out out in 4K(yes I know there is already a 4K model) but have a digital out for Dolby Atmos.
