I heard that the 3rd version was going to resemble the Pros and was worried that it would include the tips. As others have commented, these do not feel good in my ears, even if they do provide a superior listening experience. I don't prefer one design over the other so long as they do not have the tips.

I prefer the new design...I have the originals and the pro design. I don’t like the tips, don’t like the pressure of them on my ear canal. The originals sit/feel better in my ears

I really like the AirPod 1/2 design that utilized the Earpod design. Tips from IEM like designs are uncomfortable for me. I don’t like the pressure they put on the ear canal, and for average listening I don’t like the closed in feel, and the silicon/gel/foam isn’t always convenient. Lots of designs use tips. There aren’t a variety of quality non tip/non IEM designs. The AirPods have been decent quality TWS earphones. I think people seeking AirPods want moderate quality listening. If they want better quality, they’ll probably seek AirPods Pro, Sonys, or headphones with bigger drivers. AirPods need to be comfortable for a wide group of people. And Apple needs a non-IEM design.

I prefere the Pro version
Why don’t they come in colors other than white?
It’s time to ditch the stem.
I just recently bought myself some airpods I just love them!
